Our bakery was impacted by the power outages that disrupted many parts of Burbank. The power went out around 7pm on Tuesday. We had 60 loaves proofing in the refrigerator and many items in the freezer that needed to stay frozen.
With power still not restored at 11pm, I had to act fast. I gathered all of our ice gel packs from home and the bakery and spread them out on the top racks of the fridge. Then Cyndie and I moved the critical items home where we still had power and extra freezer and refrigerator space. All this while high winds were destroying our canopies which had been stably in place since 2018!
Power was restored to the bakery at 4:50am on Wednesday. Later in the day, we brought all the rescued items back to bakery and put them back in their proper places.
With Rhys currently under the weather,
Alyssa's been doing an outstanding job and Cyndie's been stepping up as well. We're down to just 3 of us keeping the ship afloat while sailing these stormy seas.
Thanks for reading this important issue. I wish you strength to help yourself and others during this unprecedented time.
