The Board of Green Destinations Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Jana Apih as its new Executive Director, as per 1 November 2024. Jana, currently the Managing Director at GoodPlace, Factory of Sustainable Tourism in Slovenia, brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record in sustainable tourism development. Albert Salman will continue in his role as CEO of Green Destinations BV.

As Executive Director, Jana will oversee the Foundation’s strategic direction. Together with Tina Hedi Zakonjšek, the newly appointed Destination Certification & Assurance Advisor, she will be working to expand the Foundation’s impact through innovative programs and partnerships that foster sustainable development in destinations.

Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Cultural Site in 1984, Mamallapuram has recently become the first Indian destination to participate in the Green Destinations Certification Program. This pioneering step positions it as a leader in promoting sustainable tourism practices across India.

Ozu City, grappling with depopulation and an ageing population, has witnessed a revival through an urban regeneration initiative driven by tourism. 2024 Top 100 stories list unveiled! |

Green Destinations successfully unveiled the 2024 Top 100 Stories list. The 2024 edition generated an inspiring collection of Good Practice Stories in tourism from 32 countries and was unveiled through a virtual event on 15 October. The accomplishments of all Top 100 destinations will be celebrated on-site during a ceremony at the upcoming Green Destinations 2024 Global Conference in Chile between the 10th and 12th of December 2024.
