Welcome to Celebration Sing Out! for 2024.
This is the second edition of FROM the GREEN ROOM. We have had a wonderful week of preparations for our first Note-Learning Day.

Your Celebration Choir continues to grow, with a special shout-out to the members of the Sydney Philharmonia Choirs, who are especially looking forward to singing the Puccini once again and also to singing the Beethoven chorus for the second time, but in the beautiful Wiradjuri language.

John has been delighted to take phone calls to answer questions, take registrations over the phone, and to hear many inspiring stories of transformation and joy from your singing in choirs over the years.

Celebrating 200 years since the Beethoven 9 was composed, this time with a profoundly moving Wiradjuri text, and acknowledging 100 years since the death of Puccini, the concert program is already auspicious.
Add the Les Miserables medley, and we have a nod to the Paris Olympics. In all, we have more reasons than ever to make this year's Celebration Sing Out! one of the most memorable yet.

This week marks our first gathering to learn together. Of course, the parts and guide tracks are available to stream and download from the website, so regular listening and humming or singing along with these is a joyful and accessible way to lay down the learning foundations at your own pace and in our own place, whether that be at home, in your car or out and about.

Music Director, Celebration Sing Out!

Dear CSO Singers,

Welcome to the Celebration Sing Out! 2024 Choir.

And what a choir you will be, with singers from all over the NSW and representing over 70 choirs!

This coming Sunday, August 4, is our first Note-Learning Day.

I'm looking forward to seeing as many of as possible who are able to attend.

For those who can't be there in person, the rehearsal will be streamed on Microsoft Teams. The recording will made available for catch up streaming at any time. Streaming details are available at the end of these notes.

What you need to know for Note-Learning Day

WHO All available adult singers who have registered. Please encourage as many additional singers (family, friends, colleagues, fellow choristers) to come, or to follow the streaming, even if they have not yet registered. John will take registrations on the day or during the following week.
For those who have yet to pay the $40 registration fee, please bring cash in a clearly marked envelope. This will be receipted at the rehearsal.

WHEN Sunday 4th of August, 10am 'til 3pm

LOCATION
Venue Knox Grammar School, Borambil St, Wahroongah
Building The William McIlrath War Memorial Chapel
Directions The entrance to Knox Chapel is located in Borambil Street, very close to the Pacific Highway

Parking There is limited parking in Borambil Street. Unless you require close access, please park in the Knox carpark. The entrance is approximately 100 metres down Borambil Street from the Pacific Highway.

Public Transport Warrawee Station is a short walk along Borambil Street. It is much closer than Wahroonga Station, which also serves Knox Grammar School

SUSTENANCE
Lunch at 12:30pm

Bring your own lunch OR
Bring $16 cash (preferred) for a pizza variety-order (Dominos). If cash is not possible, Warren will provide his bank details for an EFT.
Tea, coffee, juice, and biscuits are provided. Warren Fisher is a great host!
Bring bottled water for hydration.

Music You will receive a bound copy of the music, thanks to Warren and
Knox Grammar School.

Bring Bring a pencil (ideally 2B) to mark your score

Let's Invite More Singers to Re-connect
Registrations remain open

You are encouraged to invite more singers to join what is already a wonderful choir. If you are able, your support in boosting choir numbers will help more wonderful people re-connect with the joys and benefits of singing in a massed community choir, for a great cause.

There's plenty of room on the risers and in the galleries above the stage of our iconic Sydney Town Hall.

You are very welcome to invite:
Family and friends
Singers from your choir or choirs
Alumni of State Music Camps, Public Schools Choral Concerts and The Arts Unit
And veterans of other transformational choral experiences had as children or adults.

What a buzz it will be for them too, singing and playing great music together, and even reconnecting with old friends and colleagues.

3. Rehearse and Perform.
Attend note-learning days on Sundays the 4th of August and the 13th of October: Live at Knox Grammar, Streamed on the day or catchup.
Final rehearsals at Sydney Town Hall from 10am and performance on October 27th at 4pm.

It's for a profoundly good cause
We are raising tens of thousands of dollars so that kids who are very sick in the Children's Hospital at Westmead can have music therapy, that will bring them joy and healing during what can be the most difficult of times.
