Better Together

Mrs. King's preschool class worked together to create a friendship flower. The students paired up to mix paint and decorate one of the petals which were then assembled to form one colorful masterpiece. It was a great opportunity to work as a team and learn about the beauty of collaboration. The unique styles and color choices are what give the flower depth and character!
Round Up and Down and Shuffle Around

Mrs. Finley's third grade class did a Scoot where they moved from desk to desk, solving problems that involve rounding numbers to the nearest ten, hundred, or thousand. This type of challenge activates mind and body and keeps the students engaged and on task.

The 7th grade girls small group shared a delicious lunch of Publix subs, chips, and cookies thanks to the generosity of the Parent Connect. Thank you!

Student Athletes Restore Local Cemetary

The SRCS football teams traveled to New Hope Church in Istachatta to help restore the old cemetery. The church, established in the early 1800s, has a graveyard that had become overgrown, and some of the stones were unevenly set. The volunteers cleared overgrowth and cleaned and reset the headstones. Anna, a varsity cheerleader, was part of the servant team, washing dishes and serving the food. The team was grateful for the opportunity to serve Christ's church.
The Heart of Worship

The Worship Arts club is comprised of high school students who lead worship during the upper school's weekly chapel services. Students have enjoyed hearing Mr. James speak about the importance of education and the distinctly biblical focus of our school's mission.

Meet Our New Staff
Mr. Gutierrez - 6th-8th Band

My name is Mayol Gutierrez and I have been an educator for 29 years, working both as a band instructor and a behavior specialist. I was born in beautiful Ponce, Puerto Rico and was raised between the island and New Jersey.

My wife Jessica and I have three children: twin sons, James and Steven, and a daughter, Joy. James and Steven are biomedical engineers.  Joy is 14 years younger than her brothers!  We always wanted a daughter, and having a tagalong is a big blessing and has helped keep us young and active!

I enjoy music, attending concerts, good food, reading, traveling, muscle cars, exercising, great conversation, and spending time with my church family.
Mrs. Finley - Third Grade

My name is Stephanie Finley, and I am thrilled to join the third-grade team this year. I married my high school sweetheart in 1996. Together we have four children, 2 adult children and 2 who attend SRCS. Our family has attended Seven Rivers Church since moving to Citrus County in 2021. We enjoy traveling together and have been blessed to see many of the beautiful places God has created.

I earned a bachelor’s degree from USF in elementary education (K-6) and a master’s degree from Southeastern University in literacy education (K-12). This is my 16th year teaching, and third year in 3rd grade. I cannot wait to see what amazing things God has in store for this year!

Miss Bolling - Preschool Aide

My name is Keely Bolling. I graduated Seven Rivers in 2022. I am an aide for preschool enrichment and aftercare. I currently attend the University of West Florida (online) as I pursue my bachelor's degree in exceptional student and elementary education. I am excited to work with students and be a part of their educational journey!
Meet our Bus Drivers!

Far left: Mr. Shawn Zettle, Director of Transportation. Mr. Zettle does a great job leading the SRCS transportation team. We are grateful for him and the rest of his crew and all of the hard work they do to safely bring students to and from school each day.

Second from left: Mr. Shawn Dean. Mr. Dean joined the transportation team towards the end of the last school year, providing transport for both the morning and afternoon routes.

Second from right: Mr. Rich Konopko. Rich came out of retirement to answer the call of a driver needed for this school year.

Far right: Mrs. Lyn Zettle. Mrs. Zettle has been with us for five years. She started by driving for field trips and filling in where needed and accepted a full route position three years ago. She wears many hats, providing transport for field trips when available and assisting in keeping the buses clean and sanitized, as well as transporting them to the facilities for maintenance.

Fun facts about the transportation team:
  • Mr. Zettle, Mrs. Zettle, and Mr. Konopko all drove buses at Walt Disney World at some point in their careers.

  • All of the drivers also proudly drive for Camp Seven Rivers in the summer.

Scholarships—Don’t Wait to Get Paid!

One common mistake amongst high school students is waiting to think about paying for college. We encourage our families to discuss paying for college with their rising high school student right away.

Numerous scholarships are available to underclassmen. There are several sites on which a student can create a free profile and search for scholarships that may be a match.

A great tip is to write one great essay that can be used for multiple scholarship applications, making minor edits as needed for each submission. To avoid scams, remember that it should always be free to apply for a scholarship. Need help? Come see the advisor!
