📢 Sponsorship Campaign: Transforming Lives One Child at a Time
|
Our 2025 Sponsorship Campaign officially launched last week, with the ambitious goal of finding 90 sponsors for the 30 new children. Sponsoring a child at KSV means providing access to quality education, nutritious meals, healthcare, accommodation, and the priceless gift of Hindustani classical music training.
💡 Why Sponsorship Matters? KSV is not just a school—it is a nurturing sanctuary where children from underprivileged backgrounds receive holistic support, including academic education, music training, and lifelong mentorship. We stand by our students beyond Grade 10, guiding them in their higher education and career paths, ensuring they achieve their dreams.
🌟 Becoming a Sponsor For just INR 1,800 / EUR 25 / CAD 35 / USD 30 per month, you can directly impact a child’s future. Sponsors receive updates on their sponsored child’s journey and have the opportunity to build a meaningful connection through letters and visits.

🌱 Discovery & Development: Learning Beyond the Classroom
|
Every alternate Saturday, our students participate in Discovery & Development sessions, which expose them to a wide variety of learning experiences beyond academics and music.
In the past three months, they have: 🎨 Explored their creativity through art & craft workshops 🌱 Learned about plant grafting and the science behind agriculture 🚚 Learned about road safety and traffic rules 👗 Creatively designed clothing from old newspapers 🛡️ Attended self-defence training for personal safety and empowerment 🤼♀️ Discovered the power of wrestling and physical endurance ❤️ Engaged in important discussions on relationships and personal boundaries 📰 Gained insights into journalism, understanding the role of media in society 🧘♀️ Practised yoga to enhance mental and physical well-being
These sessions help our students develop life skills, confidence, and critical thinking, equipping them to face the world beyond KSV.

🌿 Green Time: Building a Connection with Nature
|
Every Saturday afternoon, our students, alongside wardens and volunteers, engage in Green Time—a program that fosters a deep connection with the environment.
Recently, they have: 🏡 Built natural shelters in the forest, learning survival skills 🦜 Created birdhouses to support local wildlife 🌿 Made medicinal remedies using natural herbs 🎏 Designed and flown kites, bringing joy and creativity outdoors 🏕️ Constructed mud houses, understanding eco-friendly building techniques 🌲 Enjoyed forest walks, strengthening their bond with nature
These activities cultivate an appreciation for sustainability, creativity, and teamwork while giving students a break from structured learning.

🏆 Celebrating Excellence: Student Achievements

🌟 Basavanya Uppar’s Academic Triumph
|
We are immensely proud of Basavanya Uppar, a student from last year’s 10th Standard batch, who achieved a 100% score in her Kannada SSLC exam! Her dedication and perseverance, along with the guidance of her teacher, Vimala Patil, were recognised by the Kanadamme Utsava Samasthi Heballi, who felicitated them both for their excellence.

🚔 Manikanta’s Path to the Police Force
|
Another shining star from KSV is Manikanta Killekyatar, who became the first KSV alumni to join the Police Force. Currently undergoing training, Manikanta recently visited KSV with his fellow police trainees, an inspiring moment for the entire school. Seeing his journey come full circle fills us with immense pride!

🎶 District-Level Success in Pratibha Karangi
|
Two of our talented students, Kaveri Karigar (Devotional Song category) and Preeti Sulagekar (Folk Song category), advanced to the District-Level of the Pratibha Karangi competition. A special congratulations to Kaveri (in the white dress) for securing second place! Their dedication to music is a testament to the vibrant artistic culture at KSV.

🎭 Performing Arts Competitions: Music, Dance & Drama
|
Our annual Performing Arts Competitions saw students competing in Classical Music, Light Music, Folk Dance, Patriotic Dance and drama as part of their house teams. Guided by our expert Performing Arts faculty, these competitions help students develop stage presence, teamwork, and artistic excellence.
🎶 Music: Students showcased classical Hindustani pieces, highlighting their rigorous training 💃 Folk Dance: Cultural diversity was celebrated through vibrant performances 🎭 Drama: Short plays demonstrated storytelling skills and creativity
These competitions boost confidence and instil a lifelong love for the arts.

🎡 School Fair: A Day of Joy & Fun!
|
Our School Fair was a day of games, challenges, and laughter! Students participated in activities to earn tokens, which they later exchanged for treats at the School Stall.
🎯 Exciting games & activities brought students together 🛍️ The School Stall allowed them to "shop" for rewards 🎧 The DJ session turned the evening into a lively dance party 🍓 A refreshing fruit salad ended the day on a healthy, sweet note
It was a perfect blend of fun, teamwork, and celebration!

🏫 Supporting College Students: PUC Students' Meet
|
|
KSV continues to support 73 college students from PUC to postgraduate levels. This year, we divided the College Students’ Meet into two sessions:
🎓 PUC Students’ Meet (January 2025) – The session was interactive and insightful, covering their academic progress, aspirations, and challenges.
Holding these meets ensures that our students receive the guidance and support they need to succeed in their higher education.

🏗️ Infrastructure Development with CASIRA Volunteers
|
We were honoured to host two teams of volunteers from AMISTAD CASIRA (Quebec, Canada). These dedicated individuals have been working tirelessly to construct a new office space and volunteers’ accommodation.
🔨 Their work enhances our campus infrastructure, directly benefiting both students and staff. 💖 Their selfless contributions inspire us and strengthen our mission. 🙏 Thank you, AMISTAD CASIRA, for making a lasting impact on KSV!
The first CASIRA team also generously donated several laptops for our college students and an array of tools for the maintenance department for which we are most grateful.

🎶 Ustad Hameed Khan’s Punyatithi: A Soul-Stirring Tribute
|
In early January, KSV had the honour of hosting a musical program organised by the Kala Samvahana Trust, commemorating the legacy of Ustad Hameed Khan, one of KSV's esteemed founders.
The event featured a mesmerising vocal recital by the renowned Ustad Faiyaz Khan, who captivated the audience with a soulful rendition of Raag Jaunpuri. The depth and emotion in his performance reminding us of the timeless power of Hindustani classical music. Ustad Ji was accompanied on tabla by the highly acclaimed and talented Ustad Nisar Ahmed, and on harmonium by our very own Pramod Hebballi.
This tribute was not just a celebration of music but also a reaffirmation of Ustad Hameed Khan’s vision—that music is a force capable of uplifting spirits, inspiring young minds, and preserving cultural heritage. The morning was filled with emotion, reflection, and gratitude, leaving all in attendance with a deep appreciation for the profound contributions of this great maestro.

🪘 Pandit Ravi Kudalgi’s Punyatithi: Honouring a Legacy
|
In December, a special commemorative event was held in Dharwad, celebrating the life and contributions of Pandit Ravi Kudalgi, who dedicated thirteen years to KSV as a senior tabla teacher. His tireless efforts laid the foundation for tabla education at KSV, shaping many young musicians into accomplished artists.
This heartfelt gathering was organised by Ravi’s own disciples, many of whom are now KSV alumni. Their devotion and gratitude were evident in every performance, reflecting the lasting impact of his teachings.
A significant highlight of the event was the presentation of the "Tabla Chathura" award, an annual honour established in his memory. This year, the prestigious award was bestowed upon the exceptionally talented Master Yashwant Vaishnav, recognising his dedication and skill in tabla performance.
As the rhythms of tabla echoed through the venue, the event served as a beautiful reminder of Pandit Ravi Kudalgi’s enduring legacy. His passion for teaching and preserving Hindustani classical music lives on through the many students he inspired.

🎻 EdelGive Program: Nurturing the Future of Performing Arts
|
We are honoured to be in the second year of our partnership with the EdelGive Foundation, a collaboration that continues to empower the transformative work of KSV’s Performing Arts Department.
As part of this inspiring initiative, we have been organising quarterly music programs under the theme "A Morning of Music", providing students with opportunities to perform and interact with accomplished musicians.
In mid-January, we were privileged to host a violin trio featuring Pandit B.S. Math, Vidushi Akkamahadevi Hiremath, and Smt. Veena Math, who delivered an enchanting rendition of Raag Shuddha Sarang. The delicate interplay between the violins created an atmosphere of pure musical bliss, leaving a lasting impression on our students. The violinists were accompanied on tabla by the highly talented Shri Shridhar Mandre.
The EdelGive Foundation’s support has played a crucial role in enhancing music education at KSV, providing students with resources, mentorship, and exposure to world-class performances. We remain deeply grateful for this meaningful partnership, which continues to inspire the next generation of musicians.

🎼 IFA Program: Celebrating the Artisans of Miraj
|
As part of our ongoing collaboration with the Indian Foundation for the Arts (IFA), KSV hosted a special program marking the final phase of a project celebrating the craftsmanship of Miraj—a city renowned for its handcrafted classical musical instruments.
Our students had the incredible opportunity to present their journey of learning, exploring the intricate artistry behind sitar, tanpura, and tabla-making. This hands-on experience deepened their appreciation for the craftspeople whose dedication keeps these traditions alive.
The event also featured an extraordinary musical performance, headlined by Ustad Chhote Rahimat Khan, who delivered a breathtaking rendition of Raag Charukeshi on the sitar.
Accompanied on the tabla by the gifted Kumar Hemant Joshi, the performance was a testament to the enduring beauty of Hindustani classical music.
This initiative not only bridges the gap between artists and artisans but also helps students understand the importance of preserving cultural heritage. It was a truly inspiring experience, reinforcing our belief that music is not just an art—it is a way of life.

🚆 Jagriti Yatra: A Journey of Inspiration and Enterprise
|
After a five-year hiatus, it was an absolute pleasure to welcome the Jagriti Yatra back to KSV!
The Jagriti Yatra is a unique 15-day, 8,000-km train journey that brings together young aspiring entrepreneurs, exposing them to real-world social enterprises across India. Since its inception in 2008, the Yatra has been instrumental in shaping the next generation of change-makers.
KSV was honoured to be the first stop on this transformative journey. Throughout the day, the Yatris explored our campus, immersing themselves in the KSV model—a unique fusion of education, music, and social empowerment.
A highlight of the visit was two inspiring role model sessions led by: 🎤 Adam Woodward, KSV Director, who shared the magical journey of KSV 💡 Guruprakash Shetty, Deputy General Manager of SELCO, who spoke about sustainable social enterprise
The day concluded with energetic performances by KSV students, demonstrating the power of art and education in creating lasting impact. It was a remarkable exchange of ideas, inspiration, and aspirations, leaving both the Yatris and our students deeply motivated.

🎓 IIT Bombay Visit: A Meaningful Exchange of Ideas
|
In early December, we were delighted to host a group of students from the Group of Rural Activities (GRA) at IIT Bombay. This five-day visit provided a platform for in-depth discussions and collaborative learning, as students from different backgrounds shared their experiences and insights on rural development.
During their stay, the IIT students: 🏫 Engaged with KSV staff and students, gaining firsthand knowledge of our holistic education model 🌍 Explored local rural development initiatives, understanding the challenges and opportunities in grassroots education 💡 Participated in interactive sessions, exchanging innovative ideas on social impact and sustainability
This visit reinforced the importance of knowledge-sharing and collaboration, fostering meaningful connections between academia and social enterprise.

On Children’s Day, our campus was transformed into a playground of excitement and celebration, as students participated in a day filled with fun activities and games.
From thrilling competitions to creative workshops, the day was packed with laughter, teamwork, and unforgettable memories. The event served as a beautiful reminder of the boundless energy, curiosity, and joy that children bring into our lives.
As we celebrated the spirit of childhood, we reaffirmed our commitment to nurturing and empowering every child at KSV, ensuring they receive the love, care, and opportunities they deserve.

🇮🇳 Republic Day: Honouring India’s Legacy of Democracy
|
On January 26th, KSV proudly joined the nation in commemorating Republic Day, a momentous occasion that marks the adoption of the Indian Constitution.
The celebrations began with a ceremonial flag hoisting, followed by the singing of the national anthem—a moment that filled every heart with pride and patriotism.
The event also featured the Professor A.V. Rama Rao Awards for Excellence in Teaching, honouring outstanding educators. This year’s well-deserved recipients were Smt. Archana Pattar and Shri Dhulu Adolkar from the Performing Arts Department, recognised for their passion and dedication to shaping young minds.
Republic Day at KSV was not just a celebration of history—it was a reaffirmation of our commitment to education, empowerment, and nation-building.
