Hello to all of our shooting sport family!

As July concludes, we move towards the tail end of the season. The ISSF World Cup Rifle/Pistol season ends in Ningbo in September, followed by the ISSF World Championships in Athens and Cairo in October and November, before our ISSF World Cup Finals in Doha, in December.

The July Newsletter looks back at the fantastic ISSF World Cup Shotgun in Lonato including interviews with IBSF President Ivo Ferriani. Important decisions have been confirmed by the ISSF Executive Committee and Council, with a major calendar update announced.

LONATO ISSF WORLD CUP SPRINGS SURPRISES AS PELLIELO VICTORIOUS

The line-up for the ISSF World Cup Final became clearer following the last of four ISSF World Cups in shotgun, held in Lonato.

For the home nation, it was a moment of celebration when Italian Giovanni Pellielo won the men's trap event - his first in 16 years.

PARA SHOOTING COLLABORATION AT HEART OF ISSF COUNCIL MEETING

Meetings with the ISSF Executive Committee and then the ISSF Council in Lonato led to major decisions being approved.

These included an agreement to manage World Shooting Para Sport in partnership with the International Paralympic Committee, and approval of the new ISSF Integrity Code.

2027 ISSF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS AWARDED TO DAEGU AND CAIRO

The Korean city of Daegu and Cairo, Egypt will host the 2027 ISSF World Championships in Rifle/Pistol and Shotgun.

Daegu was also awarded the 2027 ISSF World Cup Final, while the 2027 ISSF Junior World Championships will take place in Sichuan, China and Larnaca, Cyprus.

COMPETITION SCHEDULE RELEASED FOR LA28 OLYMPIC GAMES

With three years to go until the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, organisers released the competition schedule.

Shooting sport will take place over the first 11 days of the Games, including one of the first medal events taking place on the first day of the Olympics.

FERRIANI PRAISES LONATO IN RETURN TO ISSF WORLD CUP

IOC member and President of the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation, Ivo Ferriani, stated he was impressed by the latest hosting of the ISSF World Cup in Lonato.

He cited the improvement in professionalism in the event's presentation and sponsorship, and noted the forward steps the ISSF was making.

AGREEMENT SIGNED WITH INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION OF CHIROPRACTORS

A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed with the International Federation of Chiropractors (FICS) to provide free care to athletes.

This will be available at all major ISSF competitions.

ELITE COACHING COURSE OPENED BY ISSF ACADEMY

The first-ever A-level coaching course, the highest level to be delivered by the ISSF Academy, is now open for applications.

An online phase will begin in September, followed by a practical period in December at the ISSF World Cup Final in Doha.

TECHNICAL VISIT TAKES PLACE AT ISSF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP VENUE

Members of the marketing and television teams have visited the Malakasa Shooting Range in Athens, Greece ahead of October's ISSF World Championship Shotgun.

Television production, sponsorship placement and logistical solutions were discussed with the host organiser.

We are happy to introduce a new monthly series highlighting interesting news from other Olympic federations.

We’re starting with an update from the International Federation of American Football IFAF.

One month after the city hosts an ISSF World Cup leg, Ningbo will host the IFAF Asia-Oceania Flag Football Championships.

It will be the second major event to host flag football in China in 2025, just months after the 2025 World Games held in Chengdu, which saw women's flag football make its debut as an official sport on the programme.

Winners of this tournament will receive a spot at the 2026 IFAF Flag Football World Championships and will act as a crucial tournament in the build-up to the sport's debut at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
