Last Sunday's Beyond the Olive Celebration was a Sourdough Success! Lisa Grabow joined us as we introduced our new line of Extra Virgin Olive Oils and Balsamic Vinegars from her Pasadena company, Beyond the Olive.

By the end of the day, customers had purchased 18 bottles of these exquisite olive oils and balsamic vinegars! And you can visit Random Acts of Breadness anytime we're open and taste samples of these items (and more) as well.

Sourdough Shortbread is here!

After tasting a commercial shortbread cookie, I wondered if I could make an Artisan Sourdough Shortbread. And while I was at it, I wondered if I could make it sugar-free and have it still taste like that buttery shortbread we love.

After a couple of attempts (and all the samples given away to our “beta tasters” with rave results), we now have Breadness Sourdough Shortbread Cookies available for purchase!

Sweetened with non-GMO Monk Fruit/Allulose blend white sugar replacement, there are only 6 ingredients: Organic Unbleached White Bread Flour (wheat + malted barley), Raw Farms Lightly Salted Butter, Monk Fruit/Allulose, Organic Sourdough Starter, Organic Vanilla, and Redmond Real Salt.

It takes 3 days to make these artisan cookies with a full 48 hours of proofing in the refrigerator. Each block of shortbread dough is then cut by hand and individually perforated with a fork.

Like our Choco Chip Chookies, this Sourdough Shortbread is soft and chewy, or you can refrigerate or freeze it for a firmer texture.
