Saturday 25th March National Day of Action- We are responding to a call from the co-ordinating committee for the National Rejoin March (NRM), who proposed a series of locally-planned events to take place across the country on 25th March 2023. Their aim is to have at least one major event per region on that day.
- We have THREE events in our area (below). Please try to get to at least one of them!
- NRM have promised to announce the date for the second National Rejoin March, soon. They expect it to take place in the autumn - London authorities plan a maximum of six months ahead.
Saturday 25th March 11-1pm - Street stall and opinion-o-meter in the pedestrianised part of Old Christchurch Road, near Beale Place, Bournemouth
- We want to raise awareness of how Brexit is going (badly!) but also to focus on how things can be improved: rejoining the Single Market is more than one step, but the returns could potentially be great.
- With BCP local elections in a few weeks time (4th May) we are also focusing on the need for everyone to be on the electoral register - and to be aware of photo-ID rules for voting. Postal voting is an easy option for most people, especially if they don't have the approved forms of ID.
Saturday 25th March 2-3.30pm - Hattie Miles, tour guide, will reprise her 'Bournemouth's European Connections' walking tour, also on 25th March. Hattie will start the walk from Pier Approach at 2pm, so that street stall volunteers who want to join her will have time to grab a coffee and short break before hearing the mysteries that Hattie will reveal (£6 cash to Hattie at the start of walk - no need to book). Highly praised by all who joined her last year!
Saturday 25th March 2-4 pm New Eurocafe venue- Meet in the Snug at Vivo Lounge, 23 Weymouth Avenue, Brewery Square, Dorchester, DT1 1QR
A short survey of those who attended last month’s inaugural meeting suggested a simple agenda to help shape future plans, eg: - Quick introductions – what’s your name and what brings you to the Eurocafé?
- Discussion topics – starter ideas:
- What do you want from Euro Café get togethers?
- What topics would you like to discuss at the Euro Café?
