Great Music, Local Life
This is our second newsletter. We're planning to send them every other month.
DAB Trial continuing

We're into the third month of our DAB+ trial, having launched at the beginning May.

Thank you to everyone who has provided feedback. Your responses to our survey have been invaluable in helping us to assess the quality of the broadcast signal across the local area. Overall, there has been a very positive reaction, with a large number of listeners welcoming the opportunity to listen on a DAB radio at home, as well as in workplaces and in the car. However, we are well aware that there are some locations where the reception is disappointing and that it can be patchy and inconsistent, particularly on car journeys, with variations in quality from day to day.

All of the feedback received via the online survey form is being logged and is helping us to work with the owners of the transmitters to make improvements. Listeners in the east of the coverage area, including Stamford, should have enjoyed better reception on DAB+ since 14 June when some technical adjustments were made.

Please continue to tell us about your experience of listening on DAB+, even if you have already told us. We still need feedback from people who do not have good reception, as well as from those who can hear us loud and clear. Click to learn more!

We will provide further updates on the future of our DAB+ service in due course. Alongside DAB+ you can continue to listen on Amazon smart speakers, on our mobile phone apps and online.
We are also continuing to explore the possibility of providing local people with the opportunity to listen on FM. We believe that FM provides a more robust service than DAB in rural areas such as Rutland and Stamford. If you would like to support our FM campaign, please add your name to our petition.
Pop-up radio

Over the summer months, Rob Persani is taking his weekday morning show out on the road. Rob and a team of volunteers have already taken pop-up radio to a wide range of locations, including Caldecott, Stretton, Empingham, South Luffenham and Baston, as well as visiting Birch Tree cafe in Easton on the Hill, the Mindspace Garden in Stamford, and joining with Citizens Advice Rutland in Oakham as part of National Volunteers' Week. The next venue will be Uppingham Market Place, on Friday 19 July. Pop up radio will continue until the end of July and we still have one or two free dates. If your community is holding an event on a weekday morning, and you would like to see Rutland and Stamford Sound there, please get in touch by email: admin@rutlandandstamfordsound.co.uk.

In addition to the midweek pop-up radio events, we will also be at Collyweston Fete on Sunday 14 July and at the Family Fun Day at Deeping Rangers Football Club in Market Deeping on Saturday, July 27. Come along and say hello!
Rutland & Stamford Sound On Stage

A celebration of local music – Stamford Corn Exchange Theatre Saturday 18 May

This was a fabulous night of entertainment at Stamford's Corn Exchange Theatre on Saturday 18 May. As a community station we are committed to supporting local artists and and we were delighted to team up with the Corn Exchange for this exciting new venture, showcasing an array of local musical talent.

The line up for Rutland and Stamford Sound on Stage included Hayley Sanderson, one of the lead singers on Strictly Come Dancing. Hayley lives locally and trained at The Key Theatre and at local dance schools.

Also on the bill were local singer/songwriters Chloe Lorentzen, from Stamford, and Grace Arnold, from Uppingham. We regularly play Chloe and Grace's music on-air and are thrilled that they were able to join us on stage at the Corn Exchange. In addition, the evening's entertainment featured a snapshot of the local musical theatre scene, with Stamford Showstoppers and Rutland Musical Theatre performing a selection of specially rehearsed numbers and musical theatre favourites.Completing the line-up was a new vocal group, Broadway Bao, providing an opportunity to see one of the area's up and coming acts.

Rob Persani, Mick Meadows and other presenters introduced the acts and there was a chance to see Gavin Ashley-Cooper, presenter of our Sunday evening Musical Directions show, accompanying Hayley Sanderson on stage.

We hope to have another showcase in the future, so if you missed this one, watch this space!
