WOW! It’s already been a month and a half since I started this journey with you. It’s been very welcoming, and I appreciate that more than you know. There have been some changes, and we will continue to see some changes as the season approaches.
As we begin this next chapter for the Sheboygan Lakers, I’ve been thinking a lot about what it really means to “set a new standard.” To me, it’s not about being tougher, stricter, or expecting perfection, it’s about creating an environment where every child, parent, coach, and volunteer feels proud to be part of something bigger than themselves.
When we raise expectations, we raise each other. That means keeping the rink clean and welcoming, supporting each other in the stands, and showing our kids what it looks like to be committed, positive, and respectful both on and off the ice. These small shifts, when we all lean in together, build a culture that families want to be part of for years to come.
Why does this matter? Because growing the game is the only way to secure long-term success for our kids and our community. More families on the ice means more friendships, more competition, and more opportunities for development. It also means the resources to keep improving our rink, offering scholarships, and making sure hockey in Sheboygan is accessible to every child who wants to play.
Moving the needle isn’t about one person or one season. It’s about all of us setting a shared vision of what the Lakers can and should be. The stronger our foundation today, the brighter the future for every child who pulls that jersey tomorrow.
I’m grateful to each of you who show up, whether you’re tying skates, driving to early practices, volunteering on a weekend, or cheering in the stands. Together, we are building something special, and I believe the best days for the Sheboygan Lakers are still ahead.
See you Saturday at the house party!
