Warami (Welcome) to our ever-growing choir and to everyone contributing to Celebration Sing Out! 2025
|
"This is such a wonderful and rewarding time in our preparation for Celebration Sing Out!", said Warren Fisher, our Assistant Artistic Director. "We are about to bring it all together: Our in-person and real-time note learning and rehearsals, the streaming and catch-up at home, our singing along in our car or wherever else we can listen and sing privately at full voice ... we will now be creating our wonderful sound, working together as a single, momentous choir in an iconic space."
|
This Sunday, 12th October, is the next "all in" rehearsal at Knox Grammar. This rehearsal brings together what we have learned so far with all the Notes@Knox Wednesdays Extra rehearsals, in place, streamed and catch-up, as well as our individual learning "in our place and at our pace" using the resources on the Green Room page.
Attendance this Sunday is recommended for those who are able to attend, but it is not essential. Our mighty choir hails from as far a-field as Western Australia, Queensland, Regional NSW and places closer, as well as greater Sydney. Many of you will be relying on the streaming on the day, or the catch up videos afterwards.

Hearty congratulations to The Occasional Performing Sinfonia (TOPS) and the talented players from Knox Grammar School, Hornsby Girls High and North Sydney Girls High for their splendid and uplifting performances at their MUSICAL FIREWORKS! concert, held in the Knox Grammar School Performing Arts Centre, Wenkart Theatre, on Sunday 28th September. More than $2,000 was raised for Music Therapy at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead. The enthusiastic audience was treated to a rich and eclectic program of orchestral favourites, including:
Overture To The Cowboys (John Williams), selections from Music for the Royal Fireworks (Handel), Suite from The Firebird Ballet (1919 version) (Stravinsky), Prelude to Act 3 of Lohengrin (Wagner), Danzon No 2 (Marquez), Hungarian March from The Damnation of Faust (Berlioz) and Enigma Variations (excerpt) (Elgar).
A highlight (in a concert of highlights!) was Concertino for Flute and Orchestra (Chaminade) performed by Alex Wan. The orchestra gave a surprise rendition of Happy Birthday (in advance!) for founder and Artistic Director, Mal Hewitt AOM, who turns 80 this month. Thanks to Knox for the use of their wonderful concert hall, and to the many TOPS, family and friends volunteers on the day.
