As we approach the end of the year, we look back fondly on a successful ISSF World Championship Rifle/Pistol in Cairo thanks to our friends in Egypt.

This edition showcases new sponsorship deals, education programmes and Presidential visits as we look towards the upcoming 2025 ISSF World Cup Final in Doha, Qatar, this week coming. We hope to see an exciting conclusion to 2025.

PRESIDENT HAILS SUCCESSFUL GENERAL ASSEMBLIES IN AFRICA AND ASIA

ISSF President Luciano Rossi attended the General Assemblies of the African Shooting Sports Federation (ASSF) and Asian Shooting Confederation (ASC) during November, promising future development on the continents.

The start of the month saw the President visit Kuwait, where he met with ASC President H.E. Sheikh Salman Al-Sabah; before joining his ASSF colleagues in Egypt before the start of the ISSF World Championship Rifle/Pistol in Cairo.

IOC VISITS PROVIDES IMPORTANT FEEDBACK ON GOOD GOVERNANCE

ISSF Secretary General Alessandro Nicotra di San Giacomo held talks with the International Olympic Committee in Lausanne, promising its continuous improvement in its governance.

The open discussion centred around suggested revisions to the ISSF Constitution, with the Secretary General describing the meeting as “positive”.

ISSF SHOW IMPACT RESTRICTIONS WOULD HAVE ON SHOOTING SPORT AT EUROPEAN COMMISSION EVENT

President Luciano Rossi spoke on the panel Restricting lead in ammunition in Europe: Implications and consequences at the European Parliament in Brussels, highlighting the potential impact on our sport if proposed European Commission restrictions go ahead.

He outlined adaptations that would have to be made to make restrictions feasible for the shooting sport community and its future.

2025 ISSF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP RIFLE/PISTOL SEES CHINA TOP MEDAL TABLE

China had a very successful ISSF World Championship in Cairo, Egypt, winning 21 medals in total, including 12 golds. The Republic of Korea won seven golds, while India, Switzerland, Norway and France won three each.

Yao Qianxun provided half of those titles for her country, winning six golds and two silvers during the competition.

CONSULTATION HELD WITH ATHLETES ON CLOTHING REGULATIONS

Rifle athletes attended a sport presentation and clothing workshop organised by the ISSF, which detailed plans to change rules to outfits and the presentation of events in 2026.

There was an opportunity for participants to ask questions to ISSF Sport Director, Peter Underhill, following the overview.

ISSF ATHLETE OF THE YEAR PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARD SHORTLIST ANNOUNCED

Five men and five women have been shortlisted for the ISSF Athlete of the Year People’s Choice Award, with the winner to be announced during the Opening Ceremony of the ISSF World Cup Final in Doha, Qatar, on 5 December.

The five men’s finalists are Atallah Nidaa K Alanazi, Jean Pierre Brol, Manuel Murcia, Rudrankksh Patil and Zoravar Singh Sandhu. The five women finalists are Lada Denisova, Jeanette Hegg Duestad, Rikke Ibsen, Konstantia Nikolaou and Brenda Rodrigues.

PLATINUM SPONSOR PROMATIC WELCOME PRESIDENT TO HEADQUARTERS

President Luciano Rossi travelled to the north-west of England to visit the headquarters of Promatic, one of the ISSF’s Platinum Sponsor.

There, he met with Group Sales Director, Marco Martelli, where he thanked the trap shooting equipment company for their support so far.

SECOND MEDIA TRAINING SESSION FOR ATHLETES HELD IN CAIRO

During the ISSF World Championship Rifle/Pistol in Cairo, Egypt, the second session of media training was held, in association with the ISSF media team.

Finland’s Aleksi Leppa received one-to-one feedback from ISSF commentator Jamie Stangroom on how to conduct yourself in an interview, receiving live feedback via video recording.

ALBANIAN SHOOTING SPORT LEADER COMPLETES IOC SAFETY SPORT OFFICER PROGRAMME

Enkelejda Caushi, Director of the Albanian Olympic Academy and Secretary General of the Albanian Shooting Sport Federation, has successfully graduated from the one-year Safety Sport Officer programme organised by the IOC.

She was presented with a certificate of completion at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland at the graduation ceremony.
