Truly Inspirational
That is how one of the members of our local community described the Sustainable Bookham Fair last Saturday in an email to me. It was indeed truly inspirational. Thank you to everyone involved for your extremely hard work. The range of displays and the knowledge of those standing with them was impressive. It was great so many people came through the doors of the church, and all of us were challenged to consider our role in helping to steward this wonderful world. The Seed of Promise
Last Sunday we continued our sermon series, The God Story, as we considered the story of The Fall. For those not able to be in church last Sunday, the 10 o’clock version, along with other aspects of our service, are available here. This week our theme is The Seed of Promise which focuses on one of the most important passages in scripture and a hinge point in history – God’s calling of Abram and covenant with him.
Rejoicing in God’s work throughout Leatherhead Deanery
A few of us from St Nicolas joined with many others from the churches in Leatherhead Denary last Sunday evening to celebrate what God is doing and to pray for one another. It was a privilege to be there, to be encouraged, and to be reminded that church, first and foremost, is not about keeping an institution going but about God working in and through us. Let’s continue to pray for Bishop Paul and the rest of the central diocesan team as they navigate this season following Bishop Andrew’s death. Have you thought about baptism and/or confirmation?
St George’s, Ashtead, are offering a local service of baptism and confirmation on Sunday 6 December at 6.00pm. Is this something that could be right for you? I’d love to accompany anyone who has not yet been baptised and/or confirmed to that service, with appropriate preparation taking place in advance.

A reminder that the funeral for Deborah Gallacher takes place at St Nicolas next Wednesday (24 June) at 12.30pm. My apologies that I inadvertently wrote ‘July’ in my last weekly email, and my thanks to Nick for the email correcting it.
Keeping up to date
Our weekly notice sheet is available both online (click here) and in church. On behalf of us all, I’d like to express our thanks to David who continues to provide such a supportive service in the office including our weekly notice sheet. We are keen to identify two additional people who might be willing to be in the office on an ad hoc basis when David is absent. Minimal tasks will be unlocking the office and answering the phone. However, it may be that you would feel able to offer more than that, in which case, fantastic.
