NIH “All of Us” Bus to visit two Arkansas INBRE institutions |
The All of Us Research Program, an initiative by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to create one of the most diverse health databases in history, will be visiting two institutions in Arkansas in the next couple of weeks with their traveling mobile exhibit, The All of Us Journey. The All of Us Journey Exhibit features interactive stations designed to help visitors of all ages learn about precision medicine research.
The mobile tour will stop at Arkansas State University, Nov 4-7, 10 am to 4 pm daily at Heritage Plaza Lawn, 101 N. Caraway Rd., Jonesboro, AR 72401. More
The second stop on the mobile tour will be at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Nov 12-15, 10 am to 4 pm daily. The bus will be located on Campus Drive between the Central Building and Ed. II. Additionally, they will be hosting free, virtual webinars for faculty and students the week prior. 2025 Proteomics Opportunities |
The IDeA National Resource for Quantitative Proteomics has launched their 2025 training and educational opportunities. The mission of the Training Program is to provide an opportunity to proteomics core staff or experienced faculty to receive supervised training on any aspect of quantitative proteomics needed to support their career or research goals. The National Resource has budgeted for and will cover all expenses related to travel, accommodations, and meals for trainees, creating a unique and free opportunity. Apply by Dec 15. More |

Dr. Mohammad Abrar Alam, chemistry professor at Arkansas State University, and collaborators have a new publication in the journal ChemistrySelect, ChemistryEurope entitled, “Synthesis of Thiazole-Fused Diosgenin Derivatives as Potential Therapeutic Agents.” The publication shows an efficient methodology has been developed to synthesize chimeric thiazole-fused diosgenin compounds using the Oppenauer oxidation, and epoxidation followed by reaction with thiourea derivatives and was a result of funding from Arkansas INBRE. This week we highlight one of our doctoral students Brian Delavan from University of Arkansas, Little Rock. “When I started my doctoral program, I had some ideas of what I wanted to work on, but nothing concrete.. Webinar: R01, R21, and R03 NIH Funding Opportunities: Pros and Cons. The R01, R21 and R03 are the three most common NIH Research Project Grants (RPGs). The R01 is considered the “gold standard” of NIH grants. The small R03 and exploratory/developmental R21 grants should not be considered as “mini-R01s” but rather serve a specific purpose for investigators. Chen Institute & Science Prize for AI Accelerated Research. The prize is awarded to early career scientists in a field related to AI in the physical or life sciences for outstanding research performed as described in a 1,000-word essay. The Grand Prize winner will be awarded a cash prize of $30,000. Up to two runner(s)-up will receive $10,000. Grand Prize and Runners-Up will be provided reasonable travel and accommodation for the awards ceremony, and receive a 5-year digital subscription to Sciencewith their essay to be published in Science.
