I hope you are enjoying the summer, although we seem to be in a period of wet weather. The summer holidays are a busy time for many - the competing demands of home and work are hard to integrate and manage. Depending on where you work will depend on when you get a break. This might be in the school holidays, or in September after all the holiday programmes have finished.
Holidays are an important time to spend with family and friends, to relax, recuperate and recharge.
To get the best out of your holidays, try the following:
- Plan well in advance for your holidays, this way you are not taking work with you even if it is just in your head.
- If you have not finished something or you’re worried about someone, tell your manager so you can put a plan in place to stay connected with the individual or touch base with work.
- Do a handover email so your manager is aware of anything that may occur while you are off.
- Make sure you put your out of office on outlook and change the message on your work phone – remember to take them off when you get back.
- Do NOT take the work phone or email access with you!
Recently, senior managers had an away day, and we were pleased to be joined by the new Finance Manager, Nick, who starts with us on the 14th August. Together we looked at the strategic plan, operational plans, and external and internal communications. These plans will be shared with you in team meetings in the coming months.
