The ceremony will be held on Wednesday, 6 March, at the “Blue Stage” (Hall 7.1) from 18:00h to 20:00h, where we will announce the three finalist destinations per category, as well as the winners of the: - ITB Earth Award, selected by Rika Jean-Francois, ITB. - People’s Choice Award, chosen by the general public, who voted for their favourite story.
During the event, we will also announce our newly awarded and certified destinations at the Green Destinations Awards and Certification Ceremony. As well as the host destination for our GD2024 global conference, among other exciting news.

Dolomites Region Seiser Alm Italy 🇮🇹
The Alpe di Siusi Dolomites region, including Castelrotto, Siusi allo Sciliar, Fiè allo Sciliar, Tires allo Catinaccio, offers a perfect mountain vacation. With 300 days of sunshine yearly, it's ideal for sports lovers, families, and tranquility seekers. In winter, it's a paradise for snow enthusiasts with 181 kilometers of slopes. Summers boast 450 km of hiking trails, blooming meadows, and iconic peaks like Schlern. Outdoor activities include biking, running, and swimming at Völser Weiher pond, which freezes for ice skating in winter.

Green Destinations facilitates sustainable tourism certification for the Greater Mekong Subregion |
|
|
The Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism Administration (DASTA) commissioned Green Destinations to help establish a sustainable tourism certification program for destinations. The initiative is in the context of Asia with a focus on the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS), funded through the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Special Fund.
|
|

From 5 to 10 December 2023, Patice Talaue facilitated a training/workshop about the Green Destinations Standard for the representatives of the GMS countries. This was followed by a pilot assessment of Luang Prabang from 11 to 17 December 2023.

Green Destinations supports the Sigiriya Cleanup Day and Awareness Programme |
|
Held from 6 to 8 December last year, the Cleanup Program's primary aim was to promote cleanliness and responsible tourism, raise awareness about sustainable practices, and foster cooperation to position Sigiriya as a model sustainable destination. Green Destinations’ supported the activity through the UNDP Biofin Project in Sri Lanka.
