Chantal Roome - feel-good romance with a kick logo

Happy Friday Roomies,

We're just wrapping up an uneventful Spring Break at the Roome house, so there's not much to report.

Honestly, I've exhausted myself researching political stuff this past week. As our election gets closer here in Canada, I'm finding a disappointing number of my friends and family have taken to posting and reposting disinformation memes on social media. I've spent the last week fact checking and linking them to more accurate information. It's maddening in its futility. People want to believe memes more than they want to find the truth. sigh
But enough about that. Check out what else I've been up to.

I've started playing around with some idea for the Carlisle Creek book cover. Promise not to laugh at my epically terrible first sketch.
terrible sketch drawing of cover for Carlisle Creek Book 1
Epic, right? Would you believe that I make most of my own covers?  😂

But seriously, I am working on the cover, and it now looks a lot different from that first sketch. (It was really more of a placement sketch than a serious attempt at artwork. The people were only going to be blobs at first, even.)

The bad thing about working on drawing so much is that it kills my wrist. Holding that skinny little Apple Pencil is hell on the old carpal tunnel.
Rocky had his yearly physical last week and the vet said he's looking good. She said he'll likely always be a little chunky thanks to all the medications he takes, but otherwise he's pretty good. The levels of one medication seemed a little high, so he'll be going back in six months to have them checked them again before we decide whether to change dosages. For a dog who had cluster seizures every couple of week for a while there, he's doing amazingly well.
Floating Peter?!
In case you missed my update on social media after the last email (where the subject was Floating Peter and then nothing in the email related to that at all), here's a link to the insta post.

I can't believe I did that. (Well, I mean, I can. But I wish it didn't happen :D)

Falling Madly
A Second Chance RomCom

Once upon a time, Trevor and I shared a magical night—until he shattered my biggest career dream. So, I swore off him and the fairy tale of falling in love.

Avoiding the gorgeous Scot isn't easy when we work together, but I've moved on. That is, until I catch my boyfriend locking lips with someone else on Valentine's Day. To make matters worse, Trevor witnesses the humiliating scene.

What does he do? He whisks me away to Cozy Creek to check out a potential new office—something I am not on board for. Cozy Creek may be adorable, but it's also my hometown, which I fled for a reason. This time, there's no escape. I'm stuck here with the man who, it turns out, has been pining for me all along.

Between the quirky small-town shenanigans and Trevor's irresistible charm, I might finally be falling madly... If I can find a way to forgive him and face my own checkered past.

Personal Best
What T-shirt goes with flirting with your hot, twenty-something instructor while going through an existential crisis? The one with the overly caffeinated cat, disassociating raccoon, or wine-addict duck?

When thirty-seven-year-old Saoirse “Sir” Hooper wins a free class at the EverGreen & Fit Studios, she receives another surprise: Beau Bishop, her young, chipper fitness instructor. Stunned by his good looks and even sunnier outlook, Sir signs up for waaayyy too many of his personal training sessions. As the sessions increase in their intensity, Sir swears he’s flirting back, but there is no way. With a woman her age?

On second thought, he did just call her a good girl after torturing her with never-ending burpee reps.

Is Beau boldly leaping over their age gap or is he luring her into signing up for more of those expensive one-on-one workouts to make himself more money?

Hilarious, passionate, and at times tender, Personal Best explores what it means to embrace discomfort and give the second act a well-deserved 110%.
