Seven Rivers Christian School is excited to welcome 61 new students and 56 new families this school year! New students have moved from places like Kissimmee, Williston, and Ft. Pierce; We also have students who have come from other states: Texas and Kentucky. We even have students coming from other parts of the world, like China, France, and Ecuador!
For those who are new, this publication, called the Warrior Weekly, exists to provide families and supporters a glimpse into daily life on our campus: academics, athletics, arts, events, announcements, community groups, and more. Enjoy this first issue of the 2025-2026 school year.

Big Steps for Little Learners
Preschoolers enjoyed reading Kevin Henkes' Owen, a story about a little mouse who is very attached to his favorite blanket, Fuzzy. With school starting, Owen has to face leaving Fuzzy behind, until his mom comes up with an idea that allows him to grow up and keep his blanket close at hand. The book is perfect for preschool students beginning the exciting, and sometimes intimidating, adventure of school.

Reading and Writing, Here We Come
Second Graders are busy learning to be literary detectives as they find text evidence in their class novel, Nate the Great. The story features a young, pancake-loving sleuth. In the second picture, students are writing their first paragraphs of the year. Journaling offers students a chance to further foster creative thinking while practicing handwriting and sentence structure.

Have a Little Talk with Jesus
Second Grade has been talking about what a prayer box is and what it is used for. They learned about how we can write down our prayers and put them in the box and let God take care of them. Last week the students gathered to paint prayer boxes so they can take them home to use.

Mrs. Goforth - Upper School Science
I am a Citrus County native. I have two grown children and two enrolled in SRCS (2nd and 3rd grade). My son is in the Air Force, and my eldest daughter just graduated from Citrus High School. I have been attending Seven Rivers Church since the end of April. My girls and I enjoy road trips to visit big brother, kayaking, and singing in the car. We have a pet hedgehog named Boba. I am enjoying getting to know the high school students as we explore science and truth in the big, beautiful lab.

Maestro Gutierrez - Upper School Bible and Spanish
My name is Carlos Gutierrez, and I am a native of Mexico. Our family has lived in Florida for two years, having moved here so we could be part of the Seven Rivers Community. My wife, Erin, is part of the care team at Seven Rivers Church, and we have three kids in SRCS (3rd, 1st, and Preschool). We enjoy swimming at the neighborhood pool and visiting the beach. In my free time, I lead a men's group at church where we encourage each other by sharing Jesus and chips and salsa. Some of my favorites include birria tacos and the Rocky and Terminator movies. I really enjoy teaching Bible and also talking to my Spanish students about Mexico. Another bonus for me working at SRCS is being able to see my kids on campus every day.

Ms. Walker - Kindergarten Aide
My name is Anne Hampton Walker, and I had the joy of serving as a middle school summer intern with Seven Rivers Church. I also worked at Camp Seven Rivers as a specialty leader, where I witnessed firsthand how God is moving in the lives of students. Those experiences deepened my love for ministry and affirmed my desire to serve the next generation. Because of the way I saw God working through Seven Rivers Church and School, I felt led to move to Citrus County to be a part of what He is doing here.
Originally from Birmingham, Alabama, I am now taking classes at the College of Central Florida while also serving as a kindergarten aide at the school. I am grateful for the opportunity to pour into the lives of our youngest students and to point them toward Christ each day. I look forward to seeing how God continues to use this community—through church, school, and even events like Warrior athletics and the kindergarten circus—to shape lives for His glory.

From the Advisor's Desk
At SRCS, we want to partner with parents and students to help define success after high school graduation. We want students to remember that we are called to work (Gen 2:15) and that we view work as an act of worship—or active participation in God’s redemption story. Success in life is not dependent upon a degree earned or the zeros in a paycheck, but should instead be viewed as a posture. The chance to worship and serve our Creator and to be compassionate in our communities is success. Parents, please partner with us this year as we cast a healthy vision for our students about the beauty of a life set free by the love of the Lord.
