How did your journey into music begin, and what drew you to the Trance genre in particular?
My journey into music began in the late 90s, during a time when Trance was really flourishing as a genre. I was drawn to its euphoric melodies, driving rhythms, and the ability to create a sense of escape and emotional release. It felt like a world where sound transcended reality, and I knew I wanted to be a part of that. I started experimenting with Fruity Loops, teaching myself the basics of music production, and despite its limitations, it sparked a passion in me. The process of turning ideas in my head into actual tracks was magical, and over the years, my connection to Trance has only deepened. For me, it’s more than just a genre—it’s an emotional language that speaks to my soul and, I hope, to my listeners as well.
Your new release, ‘Spirit,’ is a beautifully uplifting piece. What inspired this track, and how does it reflect your signature sound?
‘Spirit’ is a track that came from a very personal place. It’s inspired by the universal human experience of seeking connection—whether it’s with people, nature, or something greater than ourselves. I wanted to create something that could uplift and transport listeners, offering them a sense of freedom and positivity. The track reflects my signature sound through its lush, uplifting melodies and emotionally charged arrangements. I’m always drawn to crafting music that balances energy and emotion, and ‘Spirit’ is no exception. From the soaring breakdowns to the euphoric drops, it captures the essence of what I love most about Trance.
Your previous release on LK Records, ‘Angels Are Calling,’ hit #1 on the Beatport Trance Hype Chart! How did that success influence your creative process for ‘Spirit’?
The success of ‘Angels Are Calling’ was a huge milestone for me and a moment of validation for my music. Knowing that it resonated with so many listeners and reached #1 on the Beatport Trance Hype Chart inspired me to aim even higher with ‘Spirit.’ It gave me the confidence to trust my creative instincts and take bold steps in my production process. At the same time, I felt a responsibility to deliver something that could match or even surpass the emotional impact of my previous work. That experience taught me to embrace the pressure and use it as fuel for creativity. For ‘Spirit,’ I focused on refining my sound while staying true to the emotional depth that fans appreciated in ‘Angels Are Calling.’
Can you take us through your production process? How do you typically approach making music, and how long does it usually take you to complete a track?
My production process usually begins with an idea that sparks inspiration, often a melody or chord progression I come up with while playing around in Logic Pro. From there, I focus on building the emotional core of the track, layering pads, arpeggios, and basslines to create a sense of depth and movement. I’m meticulous about transitions and energy flow, as they’re key to keeping the listener engaged and immersed in the journey. The creative process isn’t always linear—sometimes I’ll spend hours perfecting a single element, while other times everything falls into place quickly. Typically, it takes a few weeks to a month to complete a track, but that depends on how clearly I can visualise the final result. For me, the most satisfying part is when all the pieces come together to create something cohesive and powerful.
Your music is known for its deep emotion and transcendence. What feelings or messages do you hope listeners take away from ‘Spirit’?
With ‘Spirit,’ I hope listeners feel a sense of freedom and positivity. It’s a track that’s meant to lift people up and remind them of the beauty that exists in the world, even during challenging times. For me, music has always been about creating emotional connections, and I want ‘Spirit’ to serve as a moment of escape for anyone who listens. Whether it inspires hope, introspection, or just pure joy, my goal is to give listeners a transformative experience. I believe music has the power to heal and connect us, and I hope ‘Spirit’ offers that to those who hear it.
What’s next for RIXSON? Can we expect more celestial journeys, or do you have new directions in mind for future projects?
The journey is just beginning, and there’s so much more to come! I’ll definitely continue creating the celestial and uplifting Trance journeys that fans have come to expect, as it’s such a core part of my artistic identity. However, I’m also exploring new directions, incorporating influences from other electronic subgenres to evolve my sound. I’ve been experimenting with deeper, more progressive vibes as well as some high-energy elements, which could lead to some exciting surprises in my future releases. There are a few collaborations in the works and even plans for a concept EP or album that tells a more cohesive story.
