Here's the deal: Buy 2 Frozen Artisan Country Loaves, get a third frozen loaf of equal value for free! (Or, if you like math problems, it's 3 Frozen Country Loaves for the price of 2!) Get 2 boules (our original round loaves) or 2 batards (our more recent oblong shape) or 1 boule and 1 batard (presliced or unsliced, stock permitting) and get a frozen boule or batard for free! If you've followed my Breaducation articles this year, you learned that freezing our sourdough bread lowers the Glycemic Index from 53 down to 37. And once you thaw/rehydate slices or a loaf of Breadness, then toast the rehydrated slice(s), the Glycemic Index goes down another 10%! The lower the Glycemic Index number, the more Breadness becomes a resistive starch which is good food for your "gut buddies." So, gluten-sensitive or not, glucose sensitive or not, stone cold Breadness has you covered. And those who have frozen our bread and after thawing it properly, had it later on, know how it still tastes soft and fresh.

Now, full transparency here... there are a limited number of frozen loaves available, so first come, first served. Second, the sale is in-store only; frozen Country loaves are not in our online shop and we can't do frozen loaves phone orders. This sale does not apply to our Cinnamon Raisin Maple Pecan loaves; we usually have those available fresh on Thursday and Friday, and frozen on Saturday and Sunday.

Introducing... Acerola Cherry Lemonade!

With summer in full bloom, I felt the time was right to introduce to our Breadness folks one of my very first creations on my journey to becoming a Plant Paradox Chef: Acerola Cherry Lemonade! In 2018 we served this drink in a wine glass as the first of a seven-course Italian dinner where all of the dishes were compliant with Dr. Steven Gundry's groundbreaking book, The Plant Paradox.

I gave samples of this beverage to random customers last week and the results were thumbs-up all around! So starting today, this refreshing, sugar-free, immune-boosting, electrolyte-rich drink is available for purchase.

Acerola Cherries are naturally high in bio-available vitamin C, and there are plenty of bioflavonoids and electrolytes in organic, fresh-squeezed lemon juice. Offsetting the tartness of the cherry and lemon is our go-to sugar swap, organic Pure Monk Ultra (1/2 teaspoon is all we use for 1 gallon of this lemonade!).

Be sure to ask for your 8-ounce cup of Acerola Cherry Lemonade when you come to the bakery this weekend. Available all summer long...

July 11th is National Polyphenol Day!

I got this e-mail from Dr. Gundry yesterday promoting National Polyphenol Day, and Dr. G's birthday! What are polyphenols? They are components of certain fruits and vegetables that have antioxidant properties, help promote mitochondria activity and provide food for your microbiome. One of the best sources of polyphenols is Extra Virgin Olive Oil, like the ones we carry from Ojai Olive Oil Company. You can feel the polyphenols in your throat after taking a sip of real olive oil. It feels a bit like that glow you get after a sip of fine liqueur.

Our olive oils have their polyphenol counts listed right on the bottle, along with the harvest date. It's important to have your olive oil as fresh as possible, as the longer it is from the harvest date, the polyphenols lose their effectiveness. Although most olive oils have a 2-year "best by" date, it's really best to have olive oil that's less than a year old.
