Keynote Spotlight: Dr. Jun Bando
This month, we’re honored to highlight Dr. Jun Bando, Executive Director of the California Native Plant Society and a keynote speaker at SERCAL 2026 in Fortuna.
The California Native Plant Society works to protect California’s native plant biodiversity, supporting a statewide network of staff, volunteers, and chapters committed to conservation across the region.
At the heart of this work is a recognition that conservation is not only about protecting species, but about strengthening the relationships between people, place, and biodiversity.
Through collaborative leadership, science-informed strategies, and community engagement, Dr. Bando and her colleagues are helping to build a more inclusive and resilient conservation movement.
As one guiding idea in this work suggests, protecting biodiversity means investing in both ecosystems and the communities connected to them.
We’re especially looking forward to learning from her in May.
