Waldo County Woodshed

The Waldo County Woodshed is providing free 1/4 cords of firewood this winter at the Transfer Station on Saturday mornings. To learn more or to schedule a pick-up, visit their Facebook page or call 338-2692.

Town Sand Shed

The Town's sand shed on Beech Hill Road, between Eagle Drive and Garden Way, is available for personal use for Town residents only. Please limit yourself to two five-gallon buckets per winter.

Children's Christmas Party

The Volunteer Fire Department and First Responders are hosting their annual curbside Santa on Saturday, December 7, 12-2pm, at the Blue Goose (1184 Atlantic Highway). Santa, fire trucks, and goodie bags -- all in one place!

Toys for Tots

The Town Office is once again a collection site for Toys for Tots. Drop off a new, unwrapped gift before December 14 in the box in the lobby.

New Town Office and Community Center Fundraising

An overwhelming 89% of you voted at the June 2024 Town Meeting to proceed with the final design phase for the new Town Office/ Community Center. Since then, the Town has been working with the architect and engineers to finalize the design and begin the local, state, and federal permitting processes.

Thanks to your support in June, the Town has also cleared a major hurdle in its efforts to receive $2.35 million in federal funding for the project, which would bring us more than halfway to the total expected project cost.

The Town is seeking volunteers to help raise money to minimize the amount of money the Town will have to borrow to finish the project. We are forming a Fundraising Committee to identify and reach out to potential supporters, including grant-makers, area businesses, philanthropists, and local residents, to support our efforts.

Dog Licensing

Now is the time to renew your dog's license at the Town Office. All dogs, six months old and older, must be licensed each year before December 31. Because the State has introduced a new registration system this year, YOU MUST BRING YOUR DOG'S RABIES CERTIFICATE in order to register the dog. Contact Robin Coombs at 338-3819 x3 with any questions.

Upcoming Meetings

The Select Board meets on the second and fourth Monday at 6:15pm at the Town Office. Agendas and minutes are available on the website. If you have anything you would like to add to the agenda, please contact James Kossuth at administrator@northportmaine.org or 338-3819x6 by the Wednesday before the meeting.

The Planning Board is NOT meeting in December. Please contact Toupie Rooney, the Code Enforcement Officer, with any questions at northportceo@gmail.com or 338-3819x5.

Fiber Optic Internet Update

GWI is actively connecting customers throughout Northport. Fiber splicing construction continues along underground sections of Glenwood Lane & Stone Drive with an estimated completion in the first half of December. Underground construction at Catching Cove is complete and ready for installations.

Please note that GWI is increasing both speeds and prices starting in January. They are eliminating the 250 MBPS service and adding a 750 MPBS tier. Contact GWI with any questions.

Free Covid Tests

Free covid home test kits are available at the Town Office while supplies last.

Town Office and Transfer Station Hours

Please note that the Town Office and Transfer Station will close at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, December 24. The Town Office will be closed on Wednesday, December 25. The Town Office and Transfer Station will resume normal hours on December 26, including Tuesday, January 31 (8am - 4pm).
