This month we are celebrating

Since 2008, International Wheelchair Day has been held annually on the 1st March, where activities and events take place around the world.

This day celebrates how wheelchairs have made a positive impact and supported individual independence for wheelchair users.

The purpose of International Wheelchair Day is:

To allow wheelchair users to share and celebrate the positive impact wheelchairs have made to their lives.
To honour the millions of people who donate wheelchairs (charities), give support and care for wheelchair users, and make the world a more accessible place for those with mobility challenges.
To recognise and acknowledge that tens of millions of people worldwide require a wheelchair but are unable to afford or have access to one.

Here are some of the highlights from our Ed Session - Scripting Wheelchairs with Eddie Hoar, product specialist at Glide Products.

Thermomix® - Cooking with Disability

Gaining independence with meal preparation is an important task of daily living for many participants within the NDIS.

Often people with disability are looking for assistive technology to build capacity and increase independence in the kitchen. While Thermomix® is an NDIS approved product, how exactly can a Thermomix® help achieve those goals when it comes to meal preparing and cooking at home?
We have invited Kerrie from Thermomix® to teach us:

How to use the Thermomix®
Learn about Cookidoo (Searching for recipes, meals, drinks and pantry staples utilizing the filters to find specific foods that meet specific dietary requirements, set up collections and meal plans, editable shopping lists and online shopping.)
Demonstrate the Modes of the TMX: Focusing mainly on the functionality and incredible possibilities that the TMX can lend itself to creating Simple, Quick and Easy to follow recipes and most importantly Delicious meals to suit all your Client’s needs.

So, we invite you to join us in this interactive session.

SDA, HOME AND LIVING - ED SESSION

Join us to learn about SDA, home and living with Lauren Hart - Founder of Optimal Living Therapy.

"Lauren Hart is an Occupational Therapist and proud Founder of Optimal Living Therapy. Having graduated from Curtin University with a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy Lauren has worked in a variety of areas and with an extensive range of clients in her career thus far.

Lauren has completed a Diploma in Access Consultancy with the Institute of Access Training Australia. She works closely with builders and architects on receiving Liveable Housing Design Certifications and provides consultation and certifications for Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA)." - Optimal Living Therapy
