Donuts & Dialogue

The Town and Village will be holding a Donuts & Dialogue discussion on the relationship between the Town and the Village, what each does, and how they are working together to address our shared challenges and opportunities. Saturday, August 2, at 8am, at the NVC Community Hall (813 Shore Road). All are welcome!

Code Enforcement Hours

The Code Enforcement Officer and Plumbing Inspector is in the office on Thursdays, from 8am to 4pm.

Please note that on Thursday, August 14, she will be in the office from 8am to 12noon.

Transfer Station Reminders

The price of dump stickers is now $4 to cover increased costs in the Town's new contract for hauling household trash. All bagged trash is $4, and you will have to either trade in your blue stickers at the Town Office for the new yellow stickers at $1 each, or pay the difference with a check at the Transfer Station.

You may also use up old blue stickers by placing two blue stickers on a bag of trash.

Please trade in or use up old blue stickers by October 1.

Town Office Project Update

The Town's request for $2.35 million in federal funding advanced from the Senate Appropriations Committee to the full Senate. The request must still be approved by the Senate and House and be signed by the President.

The site plans, floor plans, and exterior elevations for the Town Office and Community Center project are available on the website and an 11"x17" paper copy is available at the Town Office.

Upcoming Road Projects

The Select Board awarded a bid for repaving Summit Ave, Crest St, Verona Ave, and Broadway.

The Select Board awarded a bid for widening the bridge over Schoolhouse Brook on Bayside Road near the Drinkwater School. The project will widen the bridge and add sidewalks to both sides of the street to increase pedestrian safety in this area.

Work on all these projects will begin soon and will be complete by October 15. Please contact James Kossuth at 338-3819x6 or administrator@northportmaine.org with any questions.

The Select Board meets on the second and fourth Monday at 6:15pm at the Town Office. Agendas and minutes are available on the website. Summer Fair Season Is Here!

The Town Administrator won first prize at the Union Fair's Blueberry Muffin competition on Thursday, July 31, using Northport blueberries and elderflowers. The winning recipe is here.
