One week of autumn is all we get?

NOTE: If this is your first Breadness Buzz, or if you've been part of our tribe but missed earlier posts, visit the Breadness Buzz Archive here and catch up on this content written especially for you (by me!). It's a great way to meet like-minded artisan sourdough aficionados and be part of this journey I started back in 2016. And now for this week's Buzz...

One week of autumn is all we get?

The change of season these past few weeks has been a welcome breeze from the long, hot summer we endured this year. But all of a sudden, summer comes back with a dry, desert wind, and it's not ready to go into hibernation just yet! The only saving grace is that the nights are dipping down into the 60s; autumn is trying to take back what is rightfully hers. Of course, autumn will win in the end but it looks like we'll be heading to the beach by day and cozying up around the fire by night for the next week or so.

At Random Acts of Breadness we're prepared for such extremes: when the sun's beatin' down 'round high noon, cool off with our sugar-free, dairy-free Chocolate Chill...

...or sip one of our Balsamic Breeze coolers in your choice of flavors...

And for the nighttime, make a pot of chowdah, creole, chili or pot pie filling, then ladle some into our Sourdough Breadness Bowl(s) (only available Saturday and Sunday this week).

A Very Special Gift Card...

We have a very cool app that makes it easy to create Gift Cards for our bakery. The "cards" can be printed on paper, e-mailed as a PDF file or saved on a cell phone. One of our customers, Andy, is quite the artist and customized one of our gift card printouts to give to a lucky recipient. When that person brought the gift card to be redeemed, I was blown away by the drawings and the letter she wrote to the recipient. I took photos of this unique piece and later got in touch with Andy and got permission to reprint this piece for our Breadness Buzz readers. Enjoy...

Migali Refrigerator Update...

The mysterious water leak on the inside bottom shelf has not returned. It could be that it knew it was only a matter of time before I found it, so it gave up and fixed itself! I'll continue to monitor the situation, especially once the humidity starts rising again. But for now, we've got lots of Breadness to make and bake!

Totally Sold Out!

Last week we again made 220 loaves of our artisan breads and try as I might to have some left over to freeze for Bread Bowls and/or to make our Sourdough Crisps with, they were all gone, once again! So...

This week at the bakery we're making 224 loaves!

This will be, yet again, the highest amount of loaves we've ever made. The extra 4 loaves come from making 16 more Petite and Breadness Bowls (8 of each) than last week. Those are made from the same amount of dough as the dozen full-size loaves we bake every week. So we lose 12 and gain 16 which gives us a net increase of 4!

(Note: This week, Petite Loaves and Breadness Bowls will be available on Saturday and Sunday only; we'll reset the inventory counters on the website Friday night so you can order them after that.)

Sorry... no Sourdough Crisps this week as we had no bread at all with which to make them!

Don't forget... we have all the other goodies that go with Breadness, like Raw Farm ButterLaura Ann's JamsClif Family Honey Spreads, NuttZo Keto Nut/Seed Butter and Beyond the Olive Tapenades!

Best advice: order early to ensure there'll be Breadness for your eating pleasure this weekend!
