September's Research to Clinical Practice: Advanced Airway Management

Advanced airway management can play a critical role in life-threatening emergencies when a patient’s airway and breathing are compromised. This issue explores advanced airway techniques used in prehospital and emergency settings, including supraglottic airways, endotracheal intubation, and cricothyroidotomy. You’ll also learn how these interventions differ from basic airway adjuncts, such as nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal airways, and how clinician training, documented competency, and state practice acts may determine which techniques athletic trainers are authorized to use. Discover the current evidence surrounding advanced airway management and important considerations for its evolving role in athletic training emergency care. LEARN MORE
