For the first time in 20 years, it rained during the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade. But just like the motto of the U.S. mail, rain did not stop the perennial pageant from presenting some of the most imaginative and stunning floats ever created!
One such float was our very own City of Burbank entry entitled, "ALL PAWS ON DECK," a pirate-themed ship 45 feet long, 18 feet wide, and 25 feet tall, designed to depict a crew of animated animals on a quest for a forever home, symbolizing the ultimate treasure.
The float’s narrative aligned with the 2026 Rose Parade theme, “The Magic in Teamwork,” highlighting collaboration and unity among the animal characters, including a spyglass-wielding dog, a peg-legged rabbit, curious cats, a parrot in the crow’s nest, and a turtle with a dolphin sidekick.
The float featured an intricate hydraulic system that enabled the ship to rock and sway as if navigating choppy seas, with the front lifting over two feet while the rest shifted in the opposite direction.
It also included animated elements such as a cannon that fired CO₂ bursts with light effects, a spinning captain’s wheel, and moving characters, making it one of the most mechanically complex floats in the parade’s history!
The float was recognized with the award for “Most Outstanding Presentation of the Rose Parade Theme” at the 137th Rose Parade, celebrated for its powerful alignment with the theme of teamwork and its emotional resonance.
