It's been a week of policy making and gearing up for Cybertech. Let's put it this way, there's no two weeks alike at Evoke!
During the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority Roundtable, we discussed the current challenges and issues of Cyber Security laws and the policies that should be put in place for individual and corporate data privacy protection. And in the same bucket of themes, Cybertech Global 2021 is taking place next where our MD, Leah, is not only speaking on panels, she is hosting a talk, too. This year's 8th edition – which is in-person at Grand Hyatt Dubai – is about harnessing the power of innovation where the top global cybersecurity experts come together to discuss the ever evolving cyber sector. Speaking of ever evolving, in 'The Mind Lab' our Digital Communications Creative, Laura, talks about the changing style of storytelling in the marketing world, offering examples and tips on how to convey your journey for a better customer experience.
We look at the performance of major U.S. stock market indices since the pandemic started in 'Shaping Tomorrow' as well as how Instagram comes on top in sharing personal data to third parties – something to be crucially aware of!
In 'Diversions' we look into why self-compassion is cloaked in controversy and mistakenly seen through the lens of self-indulgence. At its core, self-compassion involves treating yourself with the same kindness and consideration with which you’d treat a loved one – easier said than done– said everyone! Right?
And in the spirit of kindness, we bow out with a beautifully serene photo from Tokyo, where Cherry Blossom season is underway. The shot hits us right in the feels. Beautiful.

Last week, our Managing Director, Leah joined a round table of the region’s top Cyber Security experts from the banking, legal, media and technologies industries to discuss the current challenges and issues of Cyber Security laws in the UAE with Government Officials from the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Centre, Ministry of Cabinet Affairs at the Capital Club, Dubai.
The conversation focused on soliciting insights on private sector challenges and legal propositions to support the review of the UAE’s laws and regulations affecting businesses. Insights and topics ranged from individual and corporate data privacy protection, raising standards for eCommerce and digital businesses, deterring predatory financial crimes and the need to educate of the youth of tomorrow on the importance of protecting their data and safe digital usage.
