Crowded House will be entertaining their fans in a performance at Berry on the South Coast of NSW as part of their Australia-wide revival tour, Red Hot Summer, while we perform a medley of their songs specially arranged by the wonderful Andrew Chessher for this year's Celebration Sing Out!
I have no doubt that the songs in the medley, mostly from the pen of Neil Finn with a little help from brother Tim and Mitchell Froom, will feature very strongly in the Crowded House tour.
The CSO! 2025 Crowded House Medley includes Private Universe, Better be Home Soon, Weather with You, Four Seasons in One Day, Something So Strong, and Don't Dream It's Over. Enjoy your opportunity to sing these classics from one of Australia and New Zealand's favourite bands, launched in Melbourne in the early 1980s and still going strong!
Happy singing! Mal Hewitt

Celebration Sing Out! In a nut-shell |
Did you know, Celebration Sing Out! is a unique cultural and health initiative with its culminating performance in the City of Sydney's landmark historic venue, Sydney Town Hall.
CSO boosts our personal and community wellbeing, culture and especially fundraising for children’s health. Singing in our choir provides access and opportunity to enjoy the benefits of singing in a community setting. The results include an increased sense of belonging and social cohesion.
CSO and its historic origins have a span thirty three years, mostly at Sydney Town Hall. Over that period, more than 20,000 singers and 75,000 audience members have raised over one million dollars for children's health and wellbeing.
Celebration Sing Out! is welcoming, diverse and inclusive. Disability access is supported, and in 2024 there were singers from twelve choirs based in the City of Sydney, plus singers representing another fifty two community and professional choirs from across NSW. Singers came from thirty-one cultures, including LGBQTI+ and eight Aboriginal nations. The Redfern Aboriginal community was represented for the first time in 2024.
CSO brings together children, teenagers and adults aged 8 to 88. We offer equity and support, with low-cost or free options for singers and audience. The free online and in place music learning with highly experienced music educators is one of Australia's leading supports for community choral singing.
CSO is a peak community and cultural activity that offers community capacity building, benefits to wellbeing, and the security of funding for Music Therapy, for the benefit of thousands of children annually children annually who are very sick in the Children's Hospital at Westmead.

The Green Room - Primary Choirs has been designed for access by the children and their parents, as well as by choir teachers.Children can access the audio to build their familiarity with each work, by listening, singing along and inventing games to help learn the music, all independently of and in addition to school rehearsals.Online audio, sheet music and teaching tips are great ways for primary teachers and students alike to learn their beautiful songs for Celebration Sing Out!Primary students can listen at home or in the car with family to become familiar with the songs.Combined primary school's conductor, Jay House, has produced a very helpful video explaining and then demonstrating the body percussion they will be using for Kusimama on concert day. Primary Choir rehearsals are being planned, and these will be filmed so that those who are unable to travel can still have the benefit of those great learning experiences.
In response to feedback, the two of the more challenging Balinese folk songs will be dropped from this year's concert. This move will ensure the most enjoyable and artistically satisfying singing experience for the children. Teachers will be advised of the changes at the start of next term.
Despite having a young baby, Jay Hoise is happy to do a workshop or two in Term 3. If your school is interested in hosting a workshop let Lois Donnelly know and she'll try to get at least two schools together. Our plan is to video important segments of those workshops for posting online, so those unable to attend can still benefit.
