Desert Rose Films, Women in Film, Narcissistic Abuse, Landmines, Potato Passion, Petula Clark and Italy, need we say more?...

Hey, how's it going? Where are you all at these days? Are you even thinking about Xmas yet or do you still have an avalanche of work ahead of you that you can't even see that far ahead yet? Yeah, same...we are up to our eyeballs in campaigns (see an absolute dazzler below ), getting involved in all things Metaverse (our digi team are all over it like copious amounts of jam on toast) and popping in and out of Expo2020, as far as the Dubai cohort goes.

So, the first up in exciting news is that we have a new client! Welcome Nancy Paton - film director, writer, novelist extraordinaire! We will be creating the marketing road map for her in a regional campaign on how she is changing the narrative for women in film, both in front of and behind the camera. In the first instance, check out – but don't get too comfortable with it, we will be giving it a lick of paint as well!

In a complete change of tune, our Comms Director, Georgie Bradley (who is also a crisis counsellor and consultant trainer) will be weighing in on what narcissistic abuse looks like on an IG live coming up soon – but before that, we circle back to another conversation she had in the same bucket of themes. More on that below.

'Shaping Tomorrow' continues on a serious note, looking at where all the landmines are in the world and the contamination status as of 2021. But then in 'Diversions' we're all about the pedestrian potato - all the kinds of potatoes that make our potato shaped hearts fry like Belgian frites 😜.

Ok, we're a little bit hangry now. Off to smash some mash...

A Conversation About Narcissistic Abuse

Later this month, our Comms Director and Crisis Counsellor, Georgie Bradley will be having an IG live conversation via Shamsaha – the Middle East's first ever crisis response program – with Kanza Umer, a Clinical Psychologist at The Mental Health Therapists on narcissistic personalities in abusive relationships.

Now narcissism is a term that we talk a lot about – to the point where we bandy the word very liberally to describe someone who maybe simply very self-involved and selfish but not necessary afflicted with a narcissistic disorder.

In the context of violence against women, what is the cross-over from narcissism to narcissistic abuse? Stay tuned for the chat between Georgie and Kanza...

In the meantime, check out another conversation Georgie had on violence against women in film!

Paton In Focus

We are very very pleased to announce that we have a new client in our midst. Nancy Paton is a film director, writer, producer, novelist and all round Shona Rhimes meets Reese Witherspoon. She is the founder of Desert Rose Films – an independent film production company which tells compelling, female-driven, stories for and about the region. As a lifetime expat, she has a discerning and detailed eye for what's on the ground and brings her story-telling skills to speak volumes of truth in thoughtful and stirring narratives.

As a woman, in a largely male-dominated industry and society, she is ‘breaking’ all the rules and rewriting them by going where others haven’t, by lifting (albeit sensitively) the lid on taboo subjects and giving a voice and a platforms to figures who deserve to be recognised. And we will be road mapping the way with her. Excited much?

We’re always on the look out for dynamic change makers, disruptors and new information to fuel our own dexterity and creativity. So, this section sees a few of our recent picks on how the world’s outlook is changing. We hope these little nuggets will help you land on that 'aha!' moment you were looking for!

We know everyone says it's not all work, it's about play, too – and as much as we don't want to sound like a broken record, there is truth in the truism. Like we said earlier, we are all about ingesting the complex and the trivial in equal measure. In fact, we love nothing more than thinking deeply about the more 'playful' things in life. Read ' em and ponder away.
