One morning last week, when I was dropping my kids off at school, I realized I'm even more mediocre than I originally thought. Or maybe not? I'm not sure. Maybe you can help.
It was cold out and we were waiting in the vehicle a little longer before the kids went into the school, and that's when I noticed it. Nearly every kid who was walking with a parent did not carry their own backpack. I watched parent after parent after parent walk by carrying their children's backpack, sometimes right to the school entrance.
My kids have carried their own stuff since they started school. My daughter has a very petite friend whose parents carry her stuff, but I always figured that was an exception since her backpack is almost as big as she is. Apparently, though, it's actually very common for parents to carry their kids' backpacks.
Don't get me wrong. I'm not judging these parents for doing what works for them. Rather, I'm curious if I'm missing something. Should I be carrying my kids belongings for them?
What do you think? Do you carry your kids' backpacks? Or are you like me, and let them take care of it themselves?
