On July 24, 2026, the board held the public hearing and ballot tabulation for the Fire Benefit Assessment. The results are in.
This result means Felton Fire Protection District will have the stable, long-term funding needed to serve our community for years to come. What comes next is hiring permanent staff, updating equipment, and continuing the work of building a fire district this community can count on.

First Turnout: Your Newest Recruits
Your newest FFPD recruits fully geared up after completing their first turnout drill
Every firefighter remembers their first time pulling on turnout gear. This summer FFPD's newest recruits hit the bay floor for the first time — learning to don their structural firefighting gear under the eyes of their crew.
Turnout gear must be put on correctly and quickly. In a real emergency every second counts. These drills build the muscle memory that allows firefighters to gear up and get on the truck without a second thought. These are your neighbors — stepping up for this community.

Training and Preparedness
RTF Training — Rescue Task Force

Rescue Task Force — RTF — is a coordinated emergency response model that pairs firefighters and medics with law enforcement to provide rapid medical care in high-risk environments. Your FFPD crew has been training in this discipline to ensure they are prepared for the full spectrum of emergencies our community might face.
This kind of cross-disciplinary training reflects FFPD's commitment to being ready for anything — not just fires. When you call, we come prepared.
Community Event
National Night Out — Tuesday, August 4
Felton Fire is proud to host this year's National Night Out on Tuesday, August 4 from 5:00–8:00 PM at 131 Kirby Street. Come meet your first responders and enjoy a free community evening for all ages.
What to Expect
- Meet first responders from the Sheriff's Office, CHP, State Parks, Fish & Wildlife, and fire agencies across the San Lorenzo Valley
- Food and live music
- Dunk tank
- Equipment displays including a CAL FIRE bulldozer
- K-9 and drone demonstrations
- Fire engine displays

Firewise and Community Safety Tip
Defensible Space — Your First Line of Defense
Fire season is here. One of the most effective things you can do right now to protect your home is to create and maintain defensible space. Felton Fire works closely with Cal Fire inspectors each year to improve defensible space throughout our neighborhoods.
The Two Zones
- Zone 1 (0–30 feet from your home): Remove dead plants, grass, and leaves. Keep grass mowed to 4 inches or shorter. Remove branches hanging over your roof. Clear gutters of debris.
- Zone 2 (30–100 feet from your home): Cut or mow annual grasses. Create space between trees and shrubs. Remove dead plant material. Choose fire-resistant plants for landscaping.
Felton Fire will inspect any property within our area upon request and will field any complaints regarding fire safety issues.
