Grounded Boots Relief operates through two main programs: Long-Term Recovery and Crisis Response. Together, these efforts ensure that our work continues long after the headlines fade and begins long before a storm ever makes landfall.
Long-Term Recovery
When you see our team out splitting lumber or clearing properties with other organizations, you are seeing our long-term recovery program in action. These projects support families and communities still working to rebuild after disaster.
Our current efforts involve log splitting and chainsaw work, helping remove storm-damaged trees and turning them into usable firewood for those in need. We plan to add a debris trailer to our operations soon, which will expand our capacity to assist in cleanup and property recovery.
Crisis Response
Our Crisis Response program is designed for rapid deployment when disasters strike. These volunteers assist with post-disaster assessments, helping identify immediate needs and hazards so that local agencies and partner organizations can respond more efficiently.
We also assist with pre-disaster efforts such as evacuation support and sandbag operations. By stepping into these roles, our teams help local emergency management stay focused on their broader operations while ensuring residents get the help they need.
Both programs share one goal: to show up when it matters most. Whether rebuilding weeks after a storm or responding within hours of one, Grounded Boots Relief continues to build a network of trained, capable volunteers who are ready to serve.
If you would like to be part of this hands-on work in either regard, we invite you to apply to volunteer through groundedbootsrelief.org/volunteer. Every set of hands makes a difference in helping communities find stability again.
Year-Round Volunteers
Grounded Boots Relief depends on dedicated volunteers not only when disaster strikes, but through every season. Our mission continues through both blue skies and grey, as preparation and coordination are just as vital as response and recovery.
We are seeking volunteers in several year-round roles that help keep the organization running strong. These include social media and communications, bookkeeping and financial management, logistics and resource coordination, and volunteer coordination and outreach. Each role supports the foundation of our mission, ensuring that when a disaster occurs, we are already organized, equipped, and ready to respond.
Whether you are behind a desk or behind a chainsaw, every skill contributes to resilience. If you want to help strengthen communities before, during, and after disaster, consider joining our year-round volunteer team.
