Routine win for our gymnastics team

On Monday, eight gymnasts took part in the Year 4 Rise Gymnastics competition at Wansbeck Gymnastics and Trampolining Club. The girls had lots of opportunities to try out the equipment in the gym and worked hard on the trampolines, bars and even the double mini trampoline! They also performed the routines they have been working so hard to learn. They were absolutely amazing and came back to school with five gold, seven silver and four bronze certificates. Well done girls – it was a pleasure to watch you be the best you can be and share that with other schools from our region.

Girls qualify for next round of regional dodgeball championships

And in another sporting success, a determined display by our Bothal and Central all-girls team was rewarded as they qualified for the next round of the British Dodgeball North Girls' Primary Championships. The girls took on nine other teams from across the region in a series of incredibly close and hard-fought matches at Newcastle College last week. With a phenomenal attitude, the girls displayed outstanding competitive spirit alongside impressive sporting integrity and honesty in every game. They should be extremely proud that their efforts paid off.

Looking after our smiles!

Reception is celebrating World Oral Health Day this week by learning all about how to keep teeth clean, strong and healthy. Children are exploring which foods help keep their teeth healthy, learning about what a dentist does and practising how to brush their teeth properly. It has been a fun and important week of learning about looking after our smiles!

Hate crime and ASB workshops

We were delighted to welcome visitors from the Northumbria Police Prevention Through Education Team who worked with Y5 pupils on the important topic of anti-social behaviour and Y6 about hate crime. During the workshop, pupils explored a range of real-life scenarios and thoughtfully discussed the impact that choices can have on others and how to make positive choices and contribute to making our community a safe and welcoming place for everyone.

4AN and 6KB lead assemblies

Pupils from 4AN and 6KB proudly took the lead in delivering whole-school assemblies. The children embraced the opportunity to develop their leadership, oracy and collaborative skills as they worked together to present last week’s core value of ‘excellence’. It was wonderful to see their confidence grow as they spoke clearly, supported one another and engaged their peers with thoughtful presentations about International Women's Day.

Well done to 4AK, who have reached an amazing 1,500 points on the Attendance Game. To celebrate they enjoyed a relaxing movie afternoon watching 'Lilo and Stitch' with a packet of sweets each. Fantastic effort everyone—keep up the great attendance!
