In the EA NYC Community
In-person Coworking PilotsAfter a few trial runs, EA NYC (via operations enthusiast Arthur Malone) is launching semi-regular in-person coworking sessions. We'll start posting these on our
events calendar in addition to advertising on
our Slack in the new #coworking channel. This is still a relatively new development and
Arthur welcomes additional feedback and ideas!
For those who can't make it in-person, we are still running weekly virtual coworking sessions on Mondays from 2 - 4 pm (also found on our calendar). For additional online coworking options, we recommend the
EA GatherTown virtual coworking space or
focusmate.com (including
an EA-based group).
EA NYC Spanish-Speaking Meetup RecapOn February 6th EA NYC hosted our first meetup for the local Spanish-speaking community. Eight Spanish-speaking attendees (excluding hosts/special guests) arrived - and several others were interested but couldn't make it.
Join the #alruismo-eficaz-en-español channel in our
Slack to get more involved with the local community and learn more about getting involved with the Altruismo Eficaz community abroad!
Community Health ResourcesIf you have any concerns with the EA community - locally or otherwise - there is someone to speak to.
Our local Community Health Coordinator,
Megan, is available as a(n exceptionally friendly) point of contact for our community - you can also contact her
anonymously. You may also reach out to the
Center for Effective Altruism's Community Health team for further assistance. For example, you can
read more about contacting another wonderful person on CEA's team, Catherine, and see some of her
personal thoughts on decision-making here.

Have subgroup questions or ideas? Contact Alex!EA NYC Affinity Groups
As part of our mission, Effective Altruism NYC strives to make our programming welcoming for everyone. Towards these ends, we are piloting various local "affinity groups" for people of different backgrounds to find common interests and/or circumstances.
Our Women and Non-Binary EAs of of NY (WANBEANY) meetup is the first of these efforts and will continue monthly for the foreseeable future. We are also considering many other groups and
would love to hear from you if you have other ideas!
