Gavin would be pleased to hear from any local businesses that may be interested in partnering with us on our new initiatives. Volunteer opportunity - Treasurer

We are seeking a volunteer to take over as Treasurer of Rutland and Stamford Sound. The role is responsible for maintaining our accounting records, producing financial information for the Board, and supporting the Station Manager with all financial matters. The role requires a time commitment of around three hours per week on average. For more information visit our webpage.

DAB and FM Upate

Since the problems experienced during September with the DAB transmitter serving Oakham were addressed, we are pleased to report that the quality of our DAB+ service has been very good. We have received plenty of positive feedback from people who are enjoying being able to listen on DAB+, especially in their cars.
We are continuing our campaign for an FM licence, although we are having to be patient. During the fourth quarter of 2024 Rob Persani visited London for a meeting with senior members of the Ofcom Broadcast Licence team, again making our case as to why we believe FM is well suited to rural areas such as Rutland and Stamford. Ofcom are listening to our arguments, and they understand our concerns, but their short-term focus continues to be on expanding opportunities for community stations to broadcast on DAB. Alongside other stations in rural areas, we are continuing to make representations to Ofcom that they must provide an opportunity for new stations to obtain an FM licence once the DAB rollout has been completed, which is due to be later this year.
To support our FM campaign, please add your name to our petition.
