The Southeastern Microscopy Society (SEMS) is a professional organization dedicated to advancing research in the life, medical, and physical sciences through microscopy. Established in 1964, SEMS has grown to reflect the evolving needs of the microscopy community. As a Local Affiliate Society (LAS) of the Microscopy Society of America (MSA) and an Affiliated Regional Society (AReS) of the Microanalysis Society (MAS), SEMS brings together university students, faculty, researchers, industry professionals, and microscopy vendors. With a diverse membership spanning the southeastern US, SEMS hosts annual meetings to foster the exchange of scientific knowledge and best practices for labs and imaging facilities.
Some travel support will be available to technologists presenting or assisting at the meeting.
Registration is now open. Deadline for abstracts for talks, posters and prize competitions is April 11.

Simons Foundation Shenoy Undergrad Research Fellowship in Neuroscience (SURFiN). SURFiN provides up to $7,500 for paid, in-person undergrad research assistantships during the 2025-2026 academic year. Cancer Research Institute (CRI) Postdoc Fellowships. In times of federal instability, supplemental funding from philanthropic and institutional sources can help sustain the progress of cutting-edge therapies and prevent disruptions to lifesaving treatments for patients who cannot afford to wait. IDeA Co-Funding. NIGMS supports R01, R15 and MIRA R35 applications research project grant applications from investigators in IDeA states whose proposals fall short payline. Up to $350,000 in total costs for each of the first 2 years of a selected co-funding application. Co-funding is conducted once per year. The nomination period typically closes in early April. More |
FASEB Science Conference: Signal Transduction in the Immune System, June 28-July 2, Scottsdale, AZ. This year’s program will emphasize the study of the signaling pathways that control the function of the innate and adaptive immune systems. These are responsible for several biological processes, including pathogen recognition, lymphocyte activation and differentiation, and trafficking and effector function. Submit abstracts by May 3. Programs for Inclusion and Diversity Among Individuals Engaged in Health-Related Research (PRIDE) is an all-expense-paid research education and mentoring initiative program sponsored by the NIH National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI). The primary goal of the PRIDE program is to train junior level faculty who have an interest in broadening the demographic profile of biomedical research in the heart, lung, blood, and sleep domains. Must be a full-time research-oriented junior-level faculty member holding a doctoral degree, such as a PhD, MD, DO, DVM or transitioning postdoc trainee. More |
