Vehicle Extrication: Cutting a Way In

Working the hydraulic tools on a training vehicle

On August 26 the crew trained on vehicle extrication — getting a trapped person out of a wrecked car. Working on end-of-life vehicles, firefighters practiced popping doors, peeling back fenders, and making room to reach a patient.

Highway 9 runs right through the district. When a car is crushed around someone, every minute matters — which is why this gets practiced long before it is needed.

Hosing Down the Deck

Washing down the deck under the redwood

The deck under the big redwood downtown is where neighbors stop for coffee, lunch, and a sit in the shade. The crew brought the engine and the utility truck, cleared the debris, and hosed the deck and walkways clean.

Not every call is an emergency. Sometimes it is your neighbors taking care of a place everyone shares.

The 9/11 Walk — 25 Years

On the 25th anniversary of September 11, Felton firefighters put on their full turnouts and air packs and walked in honor of the 343 firefighters and nearly 3,000 people lost that day. The gear is heavy and the stairs are long. That is the point.

A BBQ at the Pump Track Grand Opening

Yes, in full turnouts and an air pack

The new Felton Pump Track at Felton Covered Bridge County Park opened on Saturday, September 19, and Felton Fire was there with a BBQ for the neighbors who came out for first laps. One firefighter even took a lap of his own.
