|
| | Welcome to the second edition of On The Up.
| It's been a memorable few months for Guernsey Cricket, capped off by hosting the ICC Under-19 Men's Cricket World Cup Europe Qualifier. Some of Europe's brightest young talent made the trip to our island, and it was a privilege to see them compete on our grounds.
| Our own U19 side rose to the occasion, battling through to a third-place finish and coming agonisingly close to booking a spot in the next phase of the ICC Under-19 Men's World Cup. While the ultimate prize wasn't to be, the tournament gave our players a brilliant opportunity to test themselves against unfamiliar opposition and show what our facilities can offer.
| A qualifier of this scale doesn't run itself, and we're hugely grateful to the volunteers who gave their time to make it happen.
| Beyond the qualifier, there's plenty more going on across the island. Our domestic season is now coming to its conclusion, and our development pathways have brought more young people into the game, and the support of our sponsors and volunteers continues to underpin it all.
| Thank you, as ever, for your support.

|
| | | | | | | We're proud of our Under-19s, who finished third at the ICC U19 Men's Cricket World Cup Europe Division 2 Qualifier, hosted here in Guernsey.
| Hosting the tournament let us bring some of Europe's best young cricket talent to the island, welcoming Sweden, Isle of Man, Belgium, Switzerland, Italy, Germany and Cricket France for 20 matches over five days - a real showcase of the quality of players, coaches and facilities we have on island.

|
| | | | | | The first week of August saw 37 players aged 9–15 take to the pitch for the Mourant T10 Summer Competition.
| They played in an 8-a-side format with just 10 overs per team, meaning the format encouraged attacking batting, explosive running between the wickets, and innovative thinking from both bowlers and fielders. With fewer players to work with, teams and coaches also had to get creative with field placements and strategy, adding a whole new layer to the game.
| The T10 format was a great fit for Guernsey's cricket season, giving players extra chances to compete, improve, and enjoy the sport. It's also given us valuable insight into how we can grow this competition and make it even more accessible in the future.
| Looking ahead, we're excited to explore expanding T10 into future half-term breaks, giving even more players the chance to play and develop throughout the season.
| A big thank you to Mourant for their continued support as main sponsor. Their backing made this possible, and we look forward to building on it together in the seasons to come.

| | | | | Players of the Month
| The final months of the Headway T20 Surge produced some outstanding individual performances across all four divisions, with plenty of competition for the July & August Player of the Month awards.
| | Division 1 - Nathan Le Tissier (Titan Independents) A superb run of form with the bat saw Nathan make 58, 54 and 37*, with all three innings contributing to victories as Titan Independents went on to secure the Division 1 title.
| Honourable mention: Luke Le Tissier (Zeta Irregulars), whose excellent run included 66, 50 and 44*.
| Division 2 - Tahir Abbas (Grant Thornton St Saviours) Consistency was the key for Tahir in a highly competitive division. He accumulated 160 runs during the period, including innings of 53 and 48, to take the Division 2 award.
| Honourable mention: Alex Torode (Titan Independents), whose 5–16 against Irregulars was the standout bowling performance of the period.
| Division 3 - Sunny Tikale (St Pierre Park Stroller) Sunny produced one of the outstanding innings of the Headway T20 Surge season with a magnificent 132 not out, following with another unbeaten 69 to secure the Division 3 award.
| Honourable mentions: Luke Gallienne (Vagabonds), with scores of 72, 58, 58 and 45*, and Tahir Abbas (Grant Thornton St Saviours), who added 74, 66 and 55* to his excellent performances in Division 2.
| Division 4 - Leo Hill (Mavericks) A remarkable period with the bat saw Leo score 211 runs without being dismissed. His three innings produced 100, 88 and 23*, making him a thoroughly deserving Division 4 winner.
| Honourable mentions: Simon Geall (St Martins), who scored 178 runs from three innings, including 71 in the Cup Final, 62 and 45*, and Zac Buttle (Deloitte), who amassed 207 runs for just one dismissal.
| Congratulations to Nathan, Tahir, Sunny and Leo, and to all those who produced outstanding performances during another highly competitive period of domestic cricket.
| Guernsey Cricket would also like to thank Headway for their continued support of the T20 Surge and recreational cricket across the island.

|
| | | | Guernsey Cricket recently welcomed David White, CEO of Newbery Cricket, to the island during the ICC U19 Men's Cricket World Cup Europe Qualifier.
| Following his visit, we asked David to take On The Up readers behind the scenes at Newbery and explain exactly what goes into producing one of the most important pieces of equipment in our game: the cricket ball.
| | | | | | Guernsey Cricket continues to benefit enormously from the generosity of local businesses, and this month we're delighted to shine a spotlight on Titan Wealth, valued supporters of community cricket in Guernsey.
| We met up with Will Peatfield of Titan Wealth to talk about why the company chose to back Guernsey Cricket, what makes grassroots investment so worthwhile, and how partnerships like this help young people develop, encourage healthier lifestyles, and bring the wider community together.
| | | | | | | | Behind every successful cricket board and club are the volunteers who give their time, energy and passion to make the game possible.
| Jamie Nussbaumer has become a familiar and valued presence within Guernsey Cricket, dedicating his time to supporting the sport with real enthusiasm and commitment.
| Jamie recently sat down to talk about his journey into volunteering, from what first drew him to get involved, to what keeps him coming back season after season, and the many rewards he's found along the way. His reflections touch on the friendships formed, the skills picked up, the chance to give something back, and the simple satisfaction of helping others enjoy the game.
| His story is a great reminder that volunteering doesn't just power organisations like Guernsey Cricket, it can also be a genuinely rewarding experience for the people who step forward to help.

| | | | | | | Volunteers hailed as unsung heroes of ICC tournament success
| More than 45 volunteers gave hundreds of hours to help us deliver the ICC U19 Men's Cricket World Cup Europe Qualifier across KGV, Port Soif, Memorial Field and College Field.
| From venue checks and team transport to match official support, stewarding, hospitality and live scoring, their work was essential throughout.
| A big thanks to Tournament Director Carl Brooks and Assistant Tournament Director Jordy Gallienne, who led months of preparation and planning to deliver a successful tournament.
| Visiting teams and officials repeatedly commented on the friendliness and professionalism of everyone involved - you have all been outstanding ambassadors for Guernsey throughout the tournament.
