Dorset for EuropeDorset for Europe was founded to resist Brexit. Since the UK left the European Union, it continues as a cross-party, non-party political, collaborative, grassroots, community group, - campaigning democratically to maintain the closest possible links with the European Union, with a view to re-joining when politically feasible, and
- working with others to raise awareness of this subject, and
- to champion our shared European culture, along with human rights, peace, prosperity, and respect for the environment at home, in Europe, and around the globe.
To achieve these aims, we have close links with many other organisations: two are highlighted below. Others will be highlighted in future months. Please tell us of any organisations that you think we should work with. Grassroots for Europe- Grassroots for Europe (GfE) is a network of over 250 local pro-EU campaign groups, including Dorset for Europe.
- It aims to support the activities of all groups, regardless of affiliation, by sharing knowledge and expertise, facilitating links between groups and their members, and backing innovative grassroots campaign initiatives.
- There is a weekly informal meeting on Wednesdays at 7.30pm, to which all members of the networked groups are invited: email the chair John Gaskell for the zoom link and to be added to the mailing list.
- GfE holds regular 'roundtable' meetings with other campaign groups, then cascades that information to local members, to keep us all in the loop.
'Our Star' - UK's star of European Unity- 'Our Star' represents peace and unity with the EU; it was unveiled by Terry Reintke MEP at the European Parliament on 18th May 2022, where it has been installed because UK belongs in the heart of Europe.
- The star will travel back to the UK to feature at the National Rejoin March II on September 23rd, at the start of a campaign centred around 'choosing our future'.
