Year 4 pupils had a fantastic day exploring the beautiful coastline at Newbiggin-by-the-Sea.
Class 4AN were at East Beach yesterday where they enjoyed a fun sand sculpting competition and created brilliant bird nests using sand, shells and seaweed.
They then set off on a two-mile coastal walk to Lynemouth Beach to learn all about migrating shorebirds and the challenges these amazing birds face, using binoculars and identification guides to spot different species. The children also took part in a litter pick and discussed the dangers of plastic pollution to wildlife.
After lunch, they explored rockpools and discovered a variety of marine life using trays, tally sheets and identification guides. The fun continued with outdoor games on the beach. 4AN showed excellent teamwork, curiosity and enthusiasm throughout the day and were a credit to the school. Everyone returned tired, sandy and full of wonderful memories!
