Breadness Buzz - From Sourdough to Sorbet...

From Sourdough to Sorbet...

How did I get from making award-winning artisan sourdough breads to creating delightful frozen desserts? The extended heatwave, warm rains and muggy weather inspired me to come up with yet another frosty treat: Sorbet!

This Strawberry Sorbet is light and refreshing, has no dairy, and in our recipe has no added sugar (it's sweetened with non-GMO monk fruit/allulose blend which is a healthy prebiotic sugar replacement).

This frozen delight contains 4 simple ingredients: organic strawberries, monk fruit/allulose blend, organic lemon Juice and a dash of Real Salt.

Hard to believe but It takes 1.5 pounds of strawberries to make six 4-ounce cups of this sorbet!

We have them frozen and ready for pickup at the bakery starting today!

Time for Another Rare OTB Event...

OTB=Outside the Bakery. It's when I load up the breadmobile with tarp, tentpoles and tables and raise a popup booth at a location down the road a piece. We did this in May and now we're doing it again for the fall.

If you live in the vicinity of Lake Balboa, then you should mark your calendar for Saturday, October 4th from noon to 6 p.m. That's when Janice Berridge hosts her special "In the Neighborhood" event at The Village Spa in Lake Balboa.

This Autumn edition features artists of all kinds showcasing their creations. I'll also be there, representing the art of sourdough bread and other healthy creations from Random Acts of Breadness.

If you live in the area, do come by and say hi! And if you have friends in the area, share this info with them so they may experience Breadness for perhaps the first time!

More about our new Garlic Bread Spreadness...

AIR FRYER: 2 SLICES ON THE LEFT; TOASTER OVEN: LARGE SLICE ON THE RIGHT

Besides the traditional oven baking of Garlic Bread using our new Garlic Bread Spreadness™, customers asked for instructions on how to make the bread in an Air Fryer. Additionally, I did a test in our Toaster Oven and here are the results...

For Air Fryer: Place spreaded bread slices on the lower tray of the Air Fryer basket. Set the temp for 350 degrees and air fry for 5 minutes.

For Toaster Oven: Place spreaded bread slices in baking pan on the rack in the toaster oven. Set the unit to Toast at the highest temperature for 5 minutes. Use oven mitts to remove the pan and transfer the slice(s) to a plate to cut into smaller pieces, or eat them as they are!

Sourdough Slider Buns...

“Honey, I shrunk the loaves!” By popular demand, our original Artisan Sourdough Country Loaf recipe is now available in a micro-loaf size that’s perfect for Slider Buns, Rolls, English Muffins, etc.!

Enjoy these buns/rolls hours out of the oven, or days later for a more pronounced sourdough flavor. Eat them fresh or toasted; whole or sliced like slider buns/English muffins. Each bun/roll is about 65 grams in weight.

These micro-loaves can also be frozen and pulled out to thaw for an hour or so, then warmed up in the oven (or toaster oven) wrapped in foil (for steaming) or without (for extra browning and crispy crust).

These buns work great for our new Garlic Bread Spreadness, too!
