As I explained in last week’s newsletter, we don’t plan to release our next single until next weekend, but we do have something new to announce: Our upcoming 79th CD, Louder Than Plaid, is now at the manufacturer. We sent them artwork on Monday and the master recording on Wednesday.
Wednesday was also ApX bassist Keith Haynie’s birthday. Although getting older isn’t always fun after the age of 21, it can have priceless benefits if you’ve been blessed with grandchildren. Here’s a wonderful photo of Keith celebrating his big day with all three of his: Wyatt (left) Ophelia (on Keith’s shoulders), and Viola (right). They’re the kids of Keith’s oldest daughter, Sarah Espenscheid, and her husband, Dustin. |

Friday was ApX alum keyboardist Bill Hubauer’s birthday. He got a very early birthday present this year. His daughter, Sarah, was expecting her first child — and Bill’s first grandchild — on July 10, but the baby came two weeks early! On June 27, Sarah gave birth to a daughter, Solana Elynn Thiebaud. Congratulations to Sarah; her husband, Joey; Bill; and his wife, Bonnie!
On July 10, Sarah posted the following on Facebook: "Happy due-date day! Hard to believe that, if she came 'on time,' I would have still been pregnant these past two weeks. So grateful to have had these extra two weeks with my girl."
That’s right … not only do Keith and Bill have birthdays two days apart, they both have daughters named Sarah who blessed them with their first grandchildren.
Keith’s Sarah can be heard singing vocals on the studio versions of the ApX parodies “Heavenly Hill” (2006), “For Just You” (2013), and “Bought by the Egyptians” (2016), plus the live recordings of “Meshach” and "Anniversary Medley” from 2012. I wanted to let you know that I have been in musical paradise since ordering the thumb drive. I actually saw ApologetiX in Cheyenne WY about 20 years ago. I was living in Sheridan WY at the time and took my then eight-year-old daughter to see you in concert. It was a fantastic concert, and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
I'm ashamed to admit that I fell out of touch with ApologetiX for many years, and I was honestly overwhelmed at the amount of music that you have put out in the last 15-20 years!
I began to get reintroduced to ApologetiX in the last few weeks when I told a coworker about your music. She began exploring ApologetiX and has really become a fan. I heard her talking about ApologetiX to another coworker and really trying to get the person to check out your music, too.
I've only gotten about half of your library added to my playlist so far, but it has been such a pleasure to listen to such great music during my workday. I have been amazed at just how well the songs are done!
Some of my favorites now are 'God and I Know,' 'Bartimaeus Eyes,' ‘Magdalena,' 'Job's Counselors,' and 'All You Gotta Do,' Those are songs that I never expected from ApologetiX and hadn't heard until recently, but they are awesome. But then again, all of your songs are great. There's even some where I love the ApologetiX parody but didn't really like the original song, like 'Killing My Suffering With His Son.'
That's a long way of saying that I am in awe of the great music you have put out over these past years that I haven't had the pleasure of hearing yet, and I absolutely love your music! Thank you for sharing your talent and heart for God with the rest of the world! |

ApX Immortal Fest Set List Will Be All First-Time Performances |
We recently mentioned that our tentative set list for Immortal Fest 2025 featured a bunch of songs we’ve never played live before. Fans who contacted us afterward seemed excited to read that. This week, we’re increasing the excitement: We have since finalized our set list for the show, and it will consist entirely of parodies we have never played live before!
In case you didn’t know already, ApologetiX has been asked to return for the fourth annual Immortal Fest Part II, which will once again take place on Labor Day Weekend (Immortal Fest Part I takes place in late July). This year, we’ll be playing on Saturday night, August 30, at 8:15 p.m.
That’s only six weeks from now!
The event is also available as pay-per-view live-streaming. You can get tickets for either on the event’s website. Tickets are available for each individual day or for the entire weekend.

Mike Doane Completes Lymphoma Treatments |
We received a wonderful health update Wednesday afternoon from longtime ApX fan and friend of the band Mike Doane, who learned in December that he had Large B-cell Lymphoma. He has been receiving chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments since early February, but now the treatments are finally complete. |
We are praising God for bringing me to a successful end for my Lymphoma treatments. I had my third PET scan on July 7 and met with my oncologist yesterday for the results. The images showed additional improvement since the second PET scan.
I will meet with the doctor again in three months and have another PET scan in six months. If I start to exhibit any unusual symptoms, which I didn't have other than night sweats, I am supposed to see her right away. I cannot thank you enough for all your supporting prayers, emails and texts. It has been a real blessing to have had this in my corner from day one. Unless something changes, this will be my last email on this subject (and there was much rejoicing!). Much love to all and again praise to God for His continued blessings through this entire situation. Mike |
