As many of you know, Dan our squirrel lead will this summer be moving out of the County and will be stepping away from his County role.
We want to say a big thank you for everything Dan's done for Squirrels in West Yorkshire. His support, enthusiasm, and willingness to help others have made a real difference to volunteers and to the growth of the section.
We’re very grateful for the time and energy Dan's given and we wish Dan all the very best with his move and next adventure.
With this change, we’re now looking for someone to take on the role of:
Help shape the future of Scouting’s youngest members
Are you passionate about inspiring young people? Do you want to play a key role in developing Squirrel Scouting across the county?
We’re looking for an County Squirrel Lead to support and grow Squirrel provision, helping more 4–6 year olds start their Scouting adventure.

Royal International Air Tattoo |
We would like to go to the Royal International Air Tattoo 2026 at Fairford in Gloucestershire on the 17th of July. The trip would take place on a Friday, so far, I have looked at a coach for the day – and this would likely be in the region of £70, leaving in the very early morning hours of the Friday. This is so that we can attend the day which appears to be more suitable for Scouts and Explorer Scouts. If you are interested and think Scouts and Explorers, please let me know and I'll potential put together a video call to discuss options. I have tried to avoid leaders driving, as it would potentially be a very long day.

Holocaust Centre North (based in Huddersfield)
The Holocaust Centre North (based at Huddersfield University) have got another grant to work with us.... they are offering this for free for the Scouts groups but means that they could go to your groups and deliver a workshop or you can go to them. The session would look at the Holocaust, and the connections to today and human rights. The session as I say would be free, the only caveats are that the Scout group needs to be based in Yorkshire and that we need to get them booked in before the end of Feb. The session can take place in March though – or else the funding will be gone.
The groups which have been to the centre for a takeover day really enjoy it!

Free Tennis Lessons for Children in Bradford
We're writing from Strive Tennis to invite your support in promoting a free opportunity for primary school children in Bradford. We're offering three free tennis lessons at Heaton Tennis & Squash Club for local children, and we'd be grateful if you could share the attached flyer via your school's communication channels (newsletters, parent emails, social media platforms, website, etc.) so parents are aware and can book places for their children. We'd really appreciate your support in helping us grow the game of tennis locally and give more children the chance to get active and involved in sport.
