HEY, Y'ALL! The weather is cooling down, but our cleanup program is warming up. It is also our last month with our current Outreach Coordinator, Katie Fagan! But no worries, because our new Outreach Coordinator, Katie Holmes, is already hard at work. You can reach her at kholmes@blackwarriorriver.org. EPA proposed denying Alabama’s unsafe coal-ash program because the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) has failed to meet federal safety standards. Let your voice be heard & submit written comments HERE before October 3!
Black Warrior Riverkeeper & GASP, represented by the Southern Environmental Law Center, filed a lawsuit against Bluestone Coke for violating the Federal Clean Water Act. The plant continues to pollute Five Mile Creek, violating the Clean Water Act.
