<<First Name>>, Welcome back to The 90%!
Mark Botros offers the 90% solution as an alternative to perfectionism. Because your peers and stakeholders will offer their own revisions, additions, and deletions, don't seek a perfect end product. Instead, get it to 90% functionality (what the Silicon Valley calls a minimally viable product). Your peers' feedback will get you to 95% completion, and your stakeholders will push you to 100%. You'll arrive at a final product faster and more efficiently, while ensuring that all perspectives are considered and included.

I teach chemistry - literally and figuratively. A degree is biochemistry ensures that I can always find employment in a school's science department. What really fascinates me these days is team chemistry. Culture and chemistry go hand-in-hand. Unlike chemistry in the lab, I find that team chemistry involves more art than science. That being said, it can still be taught and developed. Whether it's with the New Zealand All Blacks, Google, Southwest Airlines, the Norwegian Olympic team, or the Indiana University football team, the foundation is the same - relationships. Leaving team chemistry to chance might result in an explosive situation, but following the instructions will produce the desired product. Don't hope that team chemistry spontaneously erupts; do invest in building great relationships on your team.

Jesse Marsch is not Ted Lasso. As only the second American to manage a Premier League football club, however, the comparisons are inevitable. Unlike Lasso, Marsch is not just a student of coaching people, he truly understands football at the highest level. To get a sense of his philosophy, check out the slide below and listen to learn how he builds internal belief (7:58-10:15).
"I'm about people, development, relationships, and challenging people to be the best version of themselves." To that end, he left a comfortable and successful position as the manager of New York Red Bulls to be an assistant coach in Europe. He embodies a growth mindset, and he even learned German to enhance his coaching. His care for his players is evident, and he doesn't care about what others think. Instead, he bluntly says, "All I care about is the team."

Marsch helped Leeds United avoid relegation last season. The club has started on the front foot this season, including a recent thrashing of Chelsea. For a deeper dive on Marsch, check out the video below.
Preparation

You don't have to be consistently great, but you do have to be great at consistency. While it seems simple, consistently showing up gives you a leg up on the competition. A great way to approach consistency is to SHRED the week. To SHRED means that you will:

   Show Up
   Hustle
   Repeat
   Every
   Day

If you can SHRED the week, you'll shred the competition as well.
