An Update On Our Walking Tracks Work In Progress

As many of you already know, our beautiful walking tracks that meander through the lush native bush and along the sparkling waters of the Te Rereatukahia stream are currently closed.

An amazing joint project between Western Bay of Plenty District Council, Bay of Plenty Regional Council, Ngai Tamawhariua, Kaimai Kauri, owners and staff of Sapphire Springs Holiday Park & Mineral Pools, and the Tiakina Kauri team at Biosecurity New Zealand is ongoing, with the aim to better protect our kauri trees.

The new tracks will be raised so that walkers do not put at risk the delicate root systems of the kauri trees.

Moreover, two new hygiene stations at track access points will help keep contaminated soil from entering the park via the footwear of incoming visitors.
