NOTE: If this is your first Breadness Buzz, or if you've been part of our tribe but missed earlier posts, visit the Breadness Buzz Archive here and catch up on this content written especially for you (by me!). It's a great way to meet like-minded artisan sourdough aficionados and be part of this journey I started back in 2016. And now for this week's Buzz...

A whole month devoted to our passion...

September is here, a great time of year, for real sourdough bread, that's simply incred...ible!

Did you know that September is the month dedicated to raising awareness about sourdough bread? That's right! This celebration of artisan sourdough bread was created in 2013 by sustainweb.org as the Real Bread Campaign. Now in its tenth year, Sourdough September encourages people to:

If you got the artisan sourdough bug in 2020, you are probably already familiar with the art, craft and science of making this special bread. If so, make more loaves to share with your family and friends this month!

If you haven't made sourdough bread or tried and didn't succeed, you can still celebrate by supporting your local sourdough micro-bakery, like Random Acts of Breadness in Burbank! Myself and our staff give free samples and "breaducate" our customers on how the bread is made

We're also introducing real sourdough breadmaking to young folks through school field trips to our bakery. We've got two such trips scheduled for this month along with an adult group from the Dr. Weston A. Price Foundation, Pasadena Chapter.

If you'd like to schedule a small group private tour/workshop at Random Acts of Breadness, call me at 818-562-7303 and let's talk!

Sourdough September is also the perfect month for giving a Random Act of Breadness. I'd be doughlighted to put a special Breadness Gift together based on your recipient's tastes and your budget!

Spotlight on Ritrovo Selections!

I first saw this gorgeous bottle of Ritrovo Organic Turmeric Balsamic Vinegar at Rainbow Bridge Market in Ojai, California. I put it in my shopping cart right away! I also saw and put in my cart a bottle of Ritrovo Aceti (below). Once we got them home, we tested them out. Very special, indeed...

This Ritrovo Apple Balsamic is nothing like you've ever tasted before!

The best part is you get to taste samples of these exquisite balsamics right at the bakery. So come on over and explore our Ritrovo Selections collection, for yourself, your family and/or to give as gifts, just because...

Ritrovo Organic Balsamics go well with Ojai Olive Oil Company's Organic Extra-virgin Olive Oils, like their Signature EVOO made from a single olive varietal. Along with the Paddlewood Designs solid end-grain teak cutting board and Breadness Eco-friendly Tote, this ensemble makes a very special gift!

This week at the bakery: Traditional Country Loaves and Cinnamon Raisin Maple Pecan Sourdough!

And, of course, we have all the other goodies that go with Breadness, like Raw Farm Butter (or Nutiva vegan butter), Laura Ann's JamsClif Family Honey Spreads and Beyond the Olive Tapenades!

Many of our customers buy more than one loaf of bread so they can freeze some for later use (or give it as a gift in the middle of the week). If you plan on freezing your bread, let us know so we can give you bread that's already frozen and double bagged. Many of the frozen loaves are already sliced, making it easy for you to take only the slices you want from the frozen loaf and letting them thaw in another sealed bag on your counter for about 30 minutes. We have fresh and frozen Country Loaves and the Cinnamon Raisin Maple Pecan Loaves described above. (Just the thing if you want your Breadness for Labor Day festivities on Monday!)

Thanks "2-YA" for a fantastic 2-Year Anniversary Celebration during August!
