There is still a week left in the Take A Bite Out of Hunger summer meals program. If you or someone you know would appreciate some meals next week, please sign up here.Over 20 dedicated volunteers have given nearly 200 hours of their time to pack and deliver nearly 20,000 meals since June 20th! We are sooo grateful to our fantastic volunteers. This program would not have run as smoothly as it did without the Abbey Group kitchen crew who prepared every single meal. Tanya, Stephanie, and Joann - thank you!! Cassandra North, our Program Coordinator, and Kevin Leduc, our Delivery Driver also have made the program what it is. The days flow seamlessly and efficiently when Cass and Kevin are there.

The NEW 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline |
In 2020, the U.S. had one death by suicide every 11 minutes. For people ages 10–34, suicide is a leading cause of death. From April 2020 through April 2021, over 100,000 people died from drug overdoses. On July 16, the Upper Valley joined the rest of the United States in beginning to use the 988 dialing code. 988 is the new three-digit number for call (multiple languages), text or chat (English only) that connects people to the existing National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, where compassionate, accessible care and support are available for anyone experiencing mental health–related distress. The chat feature will be available through the Lifeline’s website. People can use 988 if they are having thoughts of suicide, mental health or substance use crises, or any other kind of emotional distress. People can also dial 988 if they are worried about a loved one who may need crisis support.
*The 988 call center routes calls by area code, which means that someone calling from an area code outside of Vermont will reach a call center in the area code's corresponding state.
Consider 988 an addition to other 3-digit responses such as 911 and 211.
