Dear Friends
The essential ministry of opening and closing
Many of us take for granted that the church is open each day for people to come in and pray, to drop off recycling, and for other purposes too. However, we all recognise that it is good that the church is open and available in the middle of our busy village. Our huge thanks to those who share in opening and closing the church, seen here at a ‘thank you coffee’ at the Vineries. Thank you, each of you.
It's been a funny week
Having enjoyed a short break, on my return it was a surprise to find myself hospitalised for a few days at the tail end of last week and the beginning of this week. My grateful thanks to the NHS – I was well looked after. And thank you too to those who have stood in for me at very short notice; your kindness has been truly appreciated. I am not fully recovered yet although, I think, I am improving. The reality is that I need to have my gallbladder out, and that looks unlikely now to happen until the New Year. Until then, I’ll try to watch what I eat even if the coming season may make this a little challenging!
Keeping up to date
Our weekly notice sheet is available online (click here) and in church. Please do keep a close eye on it these coming weeks; there are lots of good things happening. Perhaps you would be able to contribute in some way, or there is an event to which to invite a friend? As always, some moments from our 10 o'clock service last Sunday are also available; click here to access.
And finally…
I received a card from the Church Urban Fund this week. It contained a prayer I had seen before but was glad to be reminded of. “Goodness is stronger than evil. Love is stronger than hate. Light is stronger than darkness. Life is stronger than death. Victory is ours through Him who loves us.” (Archbishop Desmond Tutu)
Wishing you much joy and peace.
